The place you will not want to leave. . .

5 of 5
What could keep someone from getting out and exploring one of the most spectacularly beautiful islands anywhere? BayWatch! It was difficult, if not impossible, to spend a minute away from this place. The cottage—perfectly appointed and situated in every way (never mind the vacation—you could move right in and stay permanently), the landscape, the shoreline, the private vest-pocket beach, perfect swimming, the gazebo, the views, complete privacy, sunsets, the outdoor shower—need I elaborate any further? Yes—at least for this: the welcoming and helpful hosts. And not to diminish how great they were, but everyone we met on the island was equally friendly and outgoing.

My wife said "you did good"

5 of 5
My wife and I just returned home after two weeks on Long Island, the first week at Whistling Duck. We even saw a Whistling duck! The cottage is set on a beautiful lot on the water, oriented with a view across the water of the Clarence Town marina. The water is maybe 25 yards from the cottage. We saw rays on several days. When we were there, there was no sandy beach where the path stops at the water, just steps down into very shallow, calm water (inches). The beach started 25-50 yards to the south and went on for a mile or more to the end of the bay. The cottage is just right for two people, right sized and well equipped. We were very impressed with the first class construction and high state of maintenance. Some of the specific things we enjoyed: big refrigerator that could make lots of ice, small Weber gas grill that works well, firm king size bed, fast/reliable wifi, outdoor shower with hot/cold water, glide chairs on front porch for watching the passage of time on the water, ceiling fans, nice decorating, attractive landscaping. It’s just a comfortable place to be, and a good base for exploring the island.

Great beaches and great host

5 of 5
My wife and I spent a week in late Februray at this very comfortable beach cottage. Couldn't have been a better week of weather and beach. The owner, George, helped us with our travel plans and checked on us frequently at the cottage to offer assistance with directions, local stores, etc. We rented a car and traveled to the fantastic beach in the north, Santa Maria, to the beatiful Gordon Beach in the south as well as many beaches in between. White sugar sands and turquoise water. At most we would see a couple of others on the beach, but often had the entire beach to ourselves. Must see: Blue Hole. Note: Side roads are quite rough. On a return vist we would rent an SUV or high clearance vehicle.
