Beautiful Spot on the Beach

5 of 5
My husband and I traveled from Houston to Miami to Exuma. First time to the Bahamas but we wanted a calmer vacation than going to Nassau or Paradise Island. We made the perfect choice. We arrived to the airport and were picked by a friendly taxi driver and taken straight to Sandy Palms. Upon first view of the house I was very happy. It was just as pictured online and the beach is better than pictured. Peter met us and told us all sorts of very helpful info with a map. The island is small and everyone is very friendly. It was extremely easy to navigate coming from Houston where things are crazy to say the lease. Driving Peters car was interesting being we are from the USA and drive on the other side of the car and road. The car was definitely needed so I would plan on booking that for your stay. We really enjoyed the house and the amenities we had. Having a kitchen and going to the grocery store are ideal when you are staying somewhere for a long period. The house was calm and peaceful as well as the beach area. The beach is so calm and barely any waves which was nice. You can get in wade around and relax or use the kayaks they have which we did. I would recommend this place to anyone looking to stay in Exuma. We really enjoyed it. We will never forget it!! Thanks Peter!

Paradise Found!!!...

5 of 5
We stayed at the beautiful Coral Sands villa in March 2015 and could not have asked for a better vacation. Everything was perfect! The studio apartment is right on the Hoopers Bay beach! After exploring Exuma’s beaches we can say with confidence that Hoopers Bay beach is the best: secluded, quiet, private, great for long walks, white powder sand and calm turquoise water. We would just walk out of the apartment and through the garden straight onto the beach. There were never more than ten people on the entire stretch of the beach. The apartment is basic, but nice and clean. Comfortable bed, great water pressure and important to mention – drinking water straight from the tap! The best part - you wake-up with a view of blue, turquoise water and white sand straight from you bed! Our hosts, Betty and Peter Oxley, are absolutely fantastic! They live close by and are very accessible and reliable. They are very attentive and take care of every single aspect of your stay… they even arranged for basic groceries for us (as we arrived Sunday pm when grocery stores were closed). We are very grateful for everything! Location of the property is perfect - about 7-10 min walking distance to the general grocery store & pharmacy (Smitty’s) in one direction and same distance to the meats/seafood store in the other direction. About 10 min drive from the Airport and about 5-7 min drive to Georgetown. The island is beautiful with many breathtaking beaches and very friendly people. Lots of places to eat most are right along the shore and some are beautiful spots to watch sunsets. In overall a GREAT holiday! We will definitely return, hopefully sometime soon! Paradise on Earth!

Sublime beach, wonderful hosts

5 of 5
The room is right on an amazing beach. I've been to beautiful beaches, Maldives, Maui, Sardinia, other islands in the Bahamas, and this is the best. This is paradise. It's warm, never crowded, just a few houses along it. Crystal clear water. Perfect oolite sand. Sublimely peaceful and beautiful. I don't think I ever saw more than maybe ten people on the beach at a time, and many times my wife and I had the whole beach to ourselves. The sea turtles swim right up to you. There are beautiful sunrises and sunsets. The hosts, Betty and Peter Oxley, are fantastic. They know the area well, suggested great boat trips, arranged cabs for us, and referred us to good places to eat. They are 100% reliable, communicate quickly and clearly via email, and were a pleasure to work with. I’m very grateful. As for the room, it has everything you need. This is a beach pad for grabbing sleep, showering, and eating. Everything works: the flatscreen TV is nice, the fridge is powerful, the hot water in the shower never ran out-- I have zero complaints. That said, don't expect it to be opulent, because many of the fixtures are showing their age and their proximity to the warm Caribbean ocean. If you’re the type of person who needs nothing less than brand new furnishings, then I'm afraid you won't be happy here. It’s low maintenance. They clean between visitors, but no one comes into the room to make your bed while you’re staying there. Who cares? You’re going to be spending most of your time by the water anyways. So if you can relax in dated, but completely functional and clean surroundings, you'll love it and you'll want to come back. We can't wait to do so. We can afford to stay at a very refined resort, but it’s more secluded here, and we’d rather spend the money on boat hires and other activities. There’s one main road on the island, and the house’s location along that road is good too. We opted to take cabs most places, but it’s easy to rent cars. There is a small store (groceries, drug store items, etc.) and a liquor shop right next to each other about a 10 minute walk away. There’s also a meat/seafood shop in the other direction (maybe a 10-15 minute walk), which has some very nice fresh stuff for good prices in case you want to grill outside or cook it up in your room. In summary, it is a sublimely beautiful setting, with a well-appointed accommodation, and wonderful hosts. I cannot wait to get back to the island, and I’ll be booking this same place again.
