            Recent Great Exuma Reviews

Fantastic property - quietly nestled in paradise!

            5 of 5
We stayed for one week in the cottage on the beach in July 2014. We have been to Exuma several times, having stayed at Grand Isle on Emerald Bay. This is the first time we have rented from a private owner and, after this fantastic experience, we plan to return again and again! Juan, the owner, was incredibly responsive and very informative. He was more than willing to address any question we had prior to and during our trip. The cottage itself was simply adorable and all the conveniences one would need to enjoy a week in paradise were at hand. The cottage was well appointed with a good dose of charm throughout, quaint and comfortable bedrooms, bathrooms with large showers, an efficiency kitchen with a good size mini-fridge, and a living/dining area that easily met our needs. The patio off the front doors was nice and the pergola was wonderful for eating outside overlooking the crystal clear water. There were beach chairs and snorkeling gear available and the cottage is also about two doors down from the FP pool. This was fantastic for a dip after a day spent on the water! We rented a boat from Minn's (a must to tour the Harbor - don't miss Chat n' Chill - and find a private beach) and we docked it at the FP marina. This is a very important point as Minn's does allow you to dock your boat there...when we stayed at Grand Isle we had to drop the boat off every night at 5pm, drive nearly 30 minutes to Grand Isle, then get up and drive 30 minutes back to Minn's each morning. The convenience of docking your boat near your property cannot be overstated. We appreciated it immensely and the dock is a short walk from the cottage. We didn't even rent a car this time. We were disappointed that the FP restaurant was not nearly as good as when we were there two years prior. Sarah, the manager, was great. However, there has been a change in management and we can only hope that things will improve with time. I mention this because the previous meal we had there was superb and there was a significant difference in the quality of food and service. We have traveled a great deal, both domestically and internationally and Exuma ranks in our top 5 destinations. I would highly recommend this property if you are considering a trip to Exuma. We really enjoyed the cottage for our small party, but the house would be excellent for a larger group. Thank you, Juan, for offering such a wonderful place to escape to nothing short of paradise! Kind Regards, The Harrisons

much better than the photos let on!

            5 of 5
this was a most fantastic find. although john and Sharon had not advertised at the time the boat house separately, we were able to make this happen, it was the most fantastic vacation deal. from the private island that can be camped on, the included kayaks, the power boat rental and the service and attention from John and Sharon, this was a fantastic time. also the ability to fly there air Canada, direct from Toronto for $231 made the overall cost a great bargain. I loved the boat house, it has the perfect vacation find, had a great view and made me feel so at home. it is a cute but highly functional house, with full laundry, gas stove, bbq, fan to cool down and a large tv, although I was not able to get that to work. but I did much better with out the tv as the weather was perfect. but such a cute perfect house! It really made my vacation! the private island they have is a HUGE bonus too! although we did not rent the main beach house, I did check it out, and for a group of say 4, maybe 1 or 2 more, its a great deal. beautiful house, and a great price for the island. if you require A/C, than this house is a must for you as well. a beautiful place, and a great bargain... The only thing that could be changed here, is the quality of the photos showing this property on this site. they really do not do it justice. esp the boat house! John and Sharon were perfect hosts, they picked us up at the airport, dropped us off, took us out, showed us the island and to some of the cultural festivals ect on the island. It was like guided tours included! I really miss the 2 of them, and look forward to next time...

            A Sweet Getaway

            5 of 5
We spent 13 nights in Rickelle and James' little cottage by the beach and loved it. Palm Bay Beach is a relaxed place, the staff is very nice and best of all, the beach is quiet, with fun snorkeling by the little rocky islets just a short swim a way. We would follow the wooden walkway from the front door of the cottage through the yellow, pink and scarlet blooms of hibsicus and bouganvilla and in a minute we were digging our toes into the sand at the beach. We weren't looking for shopping, partying and nightlife - what we wanted was clear turquoise water, white sand beaches, good snorkelling, and relaxing times so Exuma was the perfect place for us. The resort had snorkelling gear, along with a few sea kayaks. So we swam, snorkelled and kayaked right from the beach every day. And, of course, we got great tans lying on the lounge chairs on the beach, which we often had to ourselves or shared with just a few other couples. We also went on a few excursions - a half day of sailing with the young but very experienced Capt Adam on his lovely catamaran, a whole day with Robert on his speed boat to see the swimming pigs, iguanas, sharks, very cool sand bar and best of all to swim in Thunderball Grotto. We also spent a fabulous day boating around the harbour with our host and hostess as tour guides - we snorkelled at the reef by Fowl Cay, found the "herds" of giant starfish, checked out the wreck mailboat and dined at Chat and Chill. The cottage was comfortable and clean - a living/dining area with a kitchenette and a separate bedroom with king size bed and nicely tiled full bath. Great for the two of us. We prepared all of our breakfasts, most of our lunches and a few dinners using the microwave in the kitchenette. And when we asked for some "plastic" beachware that so we could have lunch on the beach, Rickelle made sure it was in the room the next day. There's a good market in town - we were pleasantly surprised at the selection - high prices but that's to be expected on an island. The fish fry is a short walk away - definitely try the conch salad at the Out Deck and check out Charlies for Karaoke night- even if you don't sing - its a hoot to hang out with everyone else and Charlie is quite the entertainer. We didn't much like the restuarant at Augusta Beach Inn - very expensive for not very good food. We loved Dee's cooking at Santana's on Little Exuma. Rickelle and James are great hosts - tell'm Shanna and Brett told you so! Enjoy
