Tranquil Cottage a hidden gem

5 of 5
Our stay at tranquil was a wonderful experience, Larry and Barry Davis are the two most down to earth brothers you will get to meet.during are stay the two would constantly check to see if all was well with us and Larry is base in Nassau so he would message me by phone,Barry would come by to make sure all was ok the cottage is very clean and comfortable and have all the amenities one would need to feel right at home. Tranquil is truly a hidden gem and I can't wait to return!!

Great vacation at a great price

5 of 5
Our stay at the Causarina House was fantastic. My husband & our 2 kids (8 & 10) had a wonderful, relaxing time.Days were beautiful & sunny (although with15-20mph winds...maybe just the time of the year we were here?).The water is a gorgeous turquoise & the beach is a soft white sand. We arrived on Saturday about 5:00 pm & ate dinner at the Fish Fry (collection of several local "shacks" that sell food). We ate at Shirley's & enjoyed the food (be warned that all service on the island is on "island time").We discovered when we asked the staff there that all grocery stores were closed for the day. We had nothing in the house - no coffee, breakfast food. When we woke up Sunday, we went to have breakfast at Splash. The food was good & the atmosphere was fun. Exuma Market & Shop Rite mart are the 2 grocery stores in Georgetown & they are open Sunday morning but only for a short time (about 11:00 am). No alcohol is sold at the grocery stores & no liquor stores are open on Sunday. There is a bigger selection of groceries at Exuma market but the prices are a little higher than ShopRite. One of our favorite places to go to was Prime Island Meats & Deli. They had great steaks, lunch meat, ground beef, & their chicken quarters were reasonably priced. The liquor store we went to (CNK Liquors) was right down the road (a little past Prime Island). We ate out just a few times. We ate at Splash again for lunch, tried another place at the Fish Fry (Charley's), & made the trek to Santana's for lunch another day.Santana's had good food and the location on the beach was pretty, but it was a very long drive. The rest of the time we cooked at the house or on the charcoal grill. The flies swarm a bit when grilling, so be warned :) Be warned that everything (groceries, beer, restaurant food & drinks) is more expensive here.Very few places take credit cards, so you should bring cash with you. On the island, the exchange relate is 1:1.We discovered Kalik, a Bahamian beer. It was perfect for a beach vacation :) The house was perfect for our family. We slept with the sliding glass door open all week & listened to the ocean lull us to sleep. We never turned on the A/C - ocean breezes kept the house perfectly cool. It is an older house, though, but you can't beat the view & the near seclusion. It is the most beautiful beach we've been to. We did see others on the beach from time to time (maybe 10-12 total the whole week). This was a perfect vacation. We had an amazing time!

Totally relaxing!

5 of 5
We spent a delightful week in Johanna's guest cottage being thoroughly entertained by her wonderful dogs, Lucky and Sophie. The cottage was everything described and more. We spent every morning and evening on the upper deck just relaxing and gazing at the beautiful view. Johanna's recommendations for restaurants and things to do were spot on. She was helpful in every way (she helped by making phone calls when my luggage didn't arrive) and yet was totally unobtrusive. All the beaches on Exuma are lovely, but we especially enjoyed Forbes Hill and Tropic of Cancer. Our favorite restaurants were Tropic Breeze and Santana's. When visiting Santana's, make sure to stop at Mom's Bakery right next door and across the road at the yellow shack for delicious conch fritters. We also saw a lovely sunset at a restaurant called Catch a Fire (a little pricey, but worth the view). Our first night Johanna sent us down the road (after first calling to make sure they would stay open to serve us) to Turquoise Cay. It is a nice boutique hotel and restaurant. They could not have been nicer to us. All in all, we would highly recommend Sweet Ting, and Exuma in general, to anyone who is looking for a quiet, off the beaten track vacation. We definitely hope to return! Thank you, Johanna for a great week.
