Monticello Desert Rose

4 of 5
Eleuthera is a primitive, beautiful and very simple island. No casinos, shopping plazas or resorts, and in my opinion has some of the best beaches in the Caribbean. Desert Rose sits on a very beautiful Atlantic- side ocean beach; sometimes wavy and often calm. The snorkeling was great and our stay was enjoyable. The property was well maintained, charming and quite comfortable; located outside of "town", down a semi private road, I would recommend a SUV. For those individuals that visit Eleuthera often and want some privacy but still get around relatively easily, this is a good place to stay. We enjoyed our evening property guest - a grey and black hooded egret or cormorant. Nice property. Detroit MI.

Best Location!

4 of 5
This location is perfect! We've been to Eleuthera before, but this was the best location yet! The beach behind the house was incredible. The sand was a beautiful pink and looks just like is pictured in the listing. During low tide, the snorkeling to the nearby reefs was awesome with our small children. The house is close to Tippy's, the Banks Rd Deli, and other stores in Governor's Harbor. The house also is well stocked with snorkeling supplies, a cooler, beach chairs, plenty of towels, and other beach necessities. We can't wait to visit again, and highly recommend this property!

We had a wonderful stay at The Boathouse! There were no disappointments - it was exactly as described in the ad and more. I slept soundly every night listening to the soothing Atlantic waves. We didn't need to use the AC as the gentle breezes kept us cool and comfortable. The beach access was close and the beach itself was pristine, very quiet and the water was warm and inviting! We were close enough that we walked from town after a morning of sight seeing and souvenir shopping. A rental car is a must to see the rest of the island, which we toured from north to south (one week is not enough)! The residents of Eleuthera were very, very friendly and helpful. I'm definitely planning to return next year. It was my first introduction to the Bahamas and it exceeded my expectations.
