Jacob's Bluff is an extremely private, comfortable, casual beach house located on one of the most beautiful, unique beaches we've ever seen, with palm tree-topped rocky cliffs dropping down to pink sand.
The vaulted, beamed ceilings give the house a bright and airy feeling, and the multiple sliding-glass doors allow you to enjoy the spectacular view from anyplace in the main living area and master bedroom. The cabinets and countertops in the kitchen and master bath have just been updated and look very nice. The AWESOME property manager, Kelly, said that the cabinets and countertops in the other two bathrooms will be updated very soon. There's a brand new stove in the kitchen. The outdoor gas grill is a really nice feature. The beds have comfortable mattresses, and we never lacked hot water. There are plenty of bath and beach towels.
The wrap-around deck is AMAZING. We loved sitting out there with coffee at sunrise and with wine at moonrise. The second deck area by the left-hand beach access is really nice, with a giant palm tree shading it. Insect repellent highly recommended--we learned that the hard way.
There are two beach access stairs. As you face the water, the left hand staircase takes you down to a very small beach, but if you turn left and go over the rocks, you find yourself on a very large and private beach. If you take the right-hand staircase, you have a beautiful, secluded beach that's larger than the first, and you can turn to your right, go over some rocks and access another very large and private stretch of beach. We didn't see another living soul on any of the beaches until our last two days there, and the people were way off in the distance. The snorkeling off each beach area was first class.
For excellent Jamaican-influenced pizza, burgers, jerk chicken, ice cream, desserts, etc. we HIGHLY recommend Country Cafe in North Palmetto Point. The food is made from scratch, delicious, and less than half the price of Tippy's (we were not impressed with the food at Tippy's, and their prices were astronomical).
We arrived on a Monday, and in hindsight, a Tuesday or Wednesday arrival would have been better, because that's the day the supplies come in by boat and the stores are restocked. Island Farm was a great place to get some fresh fruit and a container of homemade salsa and tortilla chips.
This was a wonderful beach house for our family of four! We highly recommend Eleuthera Vacation Rentals for making reservations.
