This was our fifth visit to Eleuthera and our first stay at “Up the Hill” (UTH). Up the Hill is a five minute walk to the Atlantic and has it's own private entrance to miles of beautiful sandy beaches with amazingly few people. Two excellent restaurants are within walking distance. The privacy offered by UTH was extremely important to us; you only see other houses at a distance. The decks and front patio allow for a choice of sun or shade at all times of the day; sunrises are outstanding. After a swim or relaxing in the sun, there is an outside shower with hot water.
The owners have done an outstanding job of making UTH a place where visitors can quickly get settled in for a relaxing stay. Lots of thought and hard work has gone into the furnishings of UTH. Excellent art by one of the owners and by regional artists is throughout the house. The owners have assembled a most useful guide to everything about the house and the Governor's Harbour area; the guide also covers areas of interest on the rest of the island. The kitchen had everything we needed, and after arriving on a late day flight, we found a bottle of wine and other items which meant that we didn't have to shop until the next day. Television, high speed internet, an office-library with a wide variety of books and many other amenities were greatly appreciated. We would stay here by choice another time and strongly recommend a stay at Up the Hill to anyone seeking complete relaxation.
