Fantastic property and location - highly recommend

5 of 5
We stayed here for just over a week, and the property exceeded our expectations. The home was spacious enough for our party of four adults and two small children but could also easily accommodate three couples. The master suite is all that is on the second floor so was perfect for my husband and I and our 19 month old who still naps at least once a day. The home was beautiful and very well built and cared for. When we were downstairs with the tv on or talking you could not hear this upstairs. My four year old and 19 month old loved the pool, as one end is very shallow and she could stand in it and the water came to her waist. The home was very well equipped, and had a stocked pantry, extra things left behind from previous guests such as extra bug spray, sunscreen/ sun tan lotion, and Kathy provided a cell phone for us to use on the island for emergencies which made us feel more secure about exploring the island. There is also a land line which was helpful to make dinner reservations at the local restaurants or to comfirm the grocery store hours. Kathy was a fabulous host and was so helpful before and during our stay, and even followed up after our trip was over. Bob and Kathy live next door and were both so friendly, as was everyone we encountered on this wonderful island. We were able to explore the ocean hole, the glass window bridge, made our way as far north as the harbour where the ferry goes to Spanish wells and as far south as the road to lighthouse beach. However you need a four by four to get to lighthouse beach. The beach that is walking distance from the house is the best beach in our opinion, we explored the old club med property that was destroyed in the 1999 hurricane, so I guess the beach is the old club med beach or is now called french leave. The sand was indescribable, as it was so soft and smooth and had pink strands running through it, the water was clear to the bottom and was shallow for quite a ways out so our kids loved it. We usually drove as the is a bit of parking at the end of the road and the most people we saw on this beach was about 6 other people. We took beach chairs from the house however discovered that there were six white plastic lounge chairs at this beach, which at least four were available each time we went. Not sure who put them there but we enjoyed them! We ate at Tippy's, purple orchid, 1968, Friday night fish fry and Pascals at sky beach club which all had nice views of the water.

Heavenly Home in Paradise!

5 of 5
Waterford is a very fine home on the best beach in Eleuthera! The house is beautifully laid out and well appointed to meet your every need. It has a well-equipped kitchen, a full washer and dryer, lovely cotton linens and a beautiful dining room for entertaining. It also has a spectacular pool unlike most of the rental homes on the island....a welcome respite after a morning on the beach and in the ocean. Waterford is also very close to the 2 best restaurants in Gov Harbour....walkable on the beach even to Tippy's! We have rented this house several times and will be going back again next year. The owner is always available to assist with any request. Thanks again for our beautiful visit this Spring!

Perfect!

5 of 5
Just returned from a perfect vacation in Eleuthera. Tempted to not write a review to keep this gem to ourselves, but wanted to pass along how great our stay was. Miss Ruby house was fantastic. We have two toddler boys and they were in heaven. The house is beautiful, but very kid friendly. Lots of toys and activites just for them. There are TVs, but we didn't turn them on once! Also wifi worked well, but again we were totally disconnected. Kitchen is very well equipped, but if you intend to cook, bring spices, etc from home as they are very expensive on the island. Mark and Jude (the owners) were super accesible via IM or phone. We encountered no difficulty during our stay. The staff at the house was great. Hendricks (the caretaker) was so wonderful. We feasted on fresh grouper and gigantic stone crab claws. As for our stay, I would not come here unless you plan on renting a car as it is a bit of a walk to most any place. BUT that being said, it is really easy to get around in a car. We spent the mornings checking out all of the amazing beaches on the island, and the afternoons poolside or at our own little beach (which is breathtaking!). Tippys is delicious and very close by, but our kids loved The Buccanneer Club (right in Governors Harbor) the best...they loved chasing the roosters. Everyone on Eleuthera is friendly and down-to-earth. Don't come here if you are looking for a developed Nassau-like experience. The beauty of Eleuthera is the fact that it is the opposite of that. Loved it. Started planning our return on the plane ride home.
