Great design for a tropical house

5 of 5
The house is sited on a hill. There is a commanding view of the Atlantic from the living room and eastside bedrooms upstairs. From the kitchen, porch, deck and upstairs westside bedroom windows you can see straight across the narrow island to the Caribbean. The architect must have been well experienced in designing homes for the tropics. Essentially the whole house opens up to the soft outside air with multiple, wonderful French doors. Upstairs, there are screens. On the main floor, a wraparound screened porch hugely expands the living area, and the screens keep the house insect free. Beyond the the screened porch is a big open deck for sunning or grilling. The house is clean, well kept and, I would guess, quite recently renovated. There are flowering bougainville all the way up the driveway. The neighborhood has a delightful swimming pool in a garden setting, and the Atlantic is great for body surfing. If you need to work there is a crow's nest desk perched at the top of the stairs, and you can look up from your computer to another striking view. At the end of the day be sure to hook the screen doors from the porch to the deck or, in night breeze, they will open and close with a bang. Excellent, unique, well thought-out house -- glad we discovered it.

Simply Paradise - relaxing, gorgeous and welcoming

5 of 5
Matt and Tara were great & very helpful prior to booking & throughout the trip. I would definitely book w Eleuthera Vacation Rentals again. The Yellow House is breathtaking! The pictures do not do it justice, Kathy and Bob did an amazing job with the home. Everyone in our group loved the house & wants to return. We were a group of 8, four couples. Kathy is just simply AMAZING, she is so warm, welcoming & accommodating, we cannot thank her enough. We stayed at the yellow house for one week. Eleuthera is beautiful, non-touristic, very safe, the perfect vacation for a family or couples looking to relax. The natives are very nice & helpful. The food was great. We mostly cooked, groceries & gas are expensive but it was all worth it. We ate out at the Buccaneer, down the street from the house, it was delicious. While there you must buy local fish & lobster from the fishermen. Eat conch and grouper. Some of our group also ate at Tippys, it was delicious but a little pricey. We visited many beaches, all beautiful and secluded, we always felt like the only ones on the island. French leave is a short distance from house, light pink sand & beautiful. Twin Cove is great for pictures, adventurous car ride to get there but worth the gorgeous views. CocoDiMama & Ten Bay Beaches are about 20 mins from the house on the Caribbean side, shallow, clear waters, serene, perfect for snorkeling. Both of these beaches had sandbars during low tide, just breath taking. We took one day trip, saw preachers cave & the glass water bridge (worth the drive). Our goal was harbor island but we took a wrong turn & ended up in Spanish Wells. It worked out just fine, spanish wells island was beautiful & the prices were better than on the "mainland". We went to the sand bar and that was gorgeous. We rented golf carts to explore the little island, it was a lot of fun. We need to visit again (& stay at one of Kathy's properties) to go to harbor island since we did not get the chance to go. The fish fry is a lot of fun, good cheap food, good music, great drinks, & lots of locals to talk to. We hired private chefs for the 30th bday, it was well worth the money, the food was amazing & the ladies were a lot of fun. We stayed at the pool 2 days, it made meals easy and relaxing. Tips: Rent a car, bring cash, & a lot of bug spray. Downsides: the no-see-ums and trip was too short. Overall we loved the Yellow House and Highly recc it. Thanks Kathy and Matt you are the best!

Solitude found at Jasmine

5 of 5
My husband and I have had the amazing fortune of staying at Jasmine many, many times over the last few years. Gail, the homeowner, goes above and beyond to ensure her guests are well-informed for their visit to this lovely get away in paradise. From the moment we first step into Jasmine, we begin to feel the stresses of life disappear. The love, sweat and tears are all evident of Gail's love for Jasmine. There really is no aspect of Jasmine that has been overlooked. An early morning mug of coffee, or tea along with a good book on the screened in porch is an excellent means of relaxation! In the early morning hours before dawn, you can hear the waves roll in and out on the beach beneath Jasmine, which for us is absolute music to our ears! The outdoor shower, along with the privacy of the backyard is the perfect place to de-sand yourself after a day of fun at any of the SEVERAL secluded beaches the island has to offer. The side deck off of the kitchen is extremely convenient when grilling lunch or dinner, not to mention the view of the ocean is breathtaking. Watching the sun rise over the ocean never gets old, whether on the beach or sitting on the screened in porch, it is always mesmerizing. Likewise, sunsets on the Carib side offer a wide variety of the color spectrum. Jasmine is one of those places you visit and don't ever want anyone else to know about because you want to keep the 'secret to yourself'. We fell in love with both Jasmine and the Island of Eleuthera pretty much immediately the first time we visited. Those feelings continue to grow every time we are fortunate enough to make the trip. If you're looking for solitude, a retreat from the everyday hustle and bustle, LOOK NO FURTHER! You've arrived!
