Da Bones Mon, Da Bones!

5 of 5
We visited Eluethera for 2 weeks in Feb. Two couples sharing one house and looking to be tourists along with exploring fishing opportunities. This place was everything we expected and more. Although the pictures show it to be very nice, "it's better in person". When you first see the Property from the Driveway your impressed already. The inside of the house impresses you more and is beautifully decorated with unique touches. Then the ocean views with Palm trees from both the bedrooms and living room will make you smile. Finally, when you walk down the short path and reach the powdery white sand beach, you will know you've found a real Gem! Waking up every morning seeing the ocean from your bed was a real treat. The Owners of this place have put a lot of thought into supplying amenities to Vacationers that most don't. Things like two seater Kayaks, Binoculars, coolers, pedal bikes, etc. The Kitchen is stocked with more things than you would ever use. It just seemed like every time we needed something, they had it. The Beach is very private with only a handful of homes along it and it was a very unique experience to be able to meet so many friendly people. We can't over emphasize that enough as we felt like we had found the friendliest place on earth. The Locals were also very friendly and you find yourself waving and saying hello to everyone "Hey Mon" and "Ya-Ya". The homeowner called the day we arrived and followed up a few times to ensure everything was OK and that in itself shows you how much they care about your experience. The caretaker for this house, "James Munroe" is the icing on the cake you get when you rent this place. He will help you out with anything you want and genuinely cares about you having an enjoyable time. He is also an excellent fishing guide that knows the best spots and is simply one of the nicest human beings you will ever meet. We would highly recommend this place for anyone who wants to get the most out of there Vacation. Eluethera takes a few days to get fully comfortable with as it is an "out Island" and isn't your typical fancy high end resort vacation spot, but once you immerse yourself in the lifestyle, we found it to be a wonderful experience that we will never forget.

Has it all

Provender , which appears to have been substantially fixed up very recently--brand new living room furniture, four renovated bathrooms with brand new fixtures, etc. gets five stars. The house is in a perfect location with the Windermere Club --with restaurant, bar, gorgeous sound and ocean views and a pool-- virtually next door , an unparalleled 3 mile empty ocean beach steps out the door, and a warm lagoon -just perfect for our French picnic from Banks Road Deli- within walking and biking distance. The house has 5 nice bicycles, boogie boards, NICE snorkeling equipment, kayaks and even a wind surfer for guests to use! If you are interested in very challenging DIY bonefishing without a guide from shore, something Eleuthera is world famous for, the HUGE walkable flats in back of the house are world class. Hard to imagine anything could beat the access provided by this rental. Windermere is close to a real grocery store --in Rock Sound-- which is also a plus.We had take out from Sammy's in Rock Sound and it was the best take out we've had on the island. The fresh customizable wait-as -you -watch conch salad in Tarpum Bay was beyond description and a very healthy substantial meal. Shantziis in Tarpum Bay was also very good and very close. While you wait for your takeaway, try her bar rum drinks, some original. We've been to Eleuthera probably 15 times and it still gets TEN stars. And its even getting better. For some reason the internet worked well the whole time, there was plenty of water and good water pressure, and we only lost electric for ten minutes twice. And it's suddenly very clean. But what makes it the best is how quiet and untouristed it is, so I don't know why I am writing a review for the whole world to see! Matt Simon gets tens stars as well; there aren't many outfits like his and there aren't many people like him. Classic "available, affable, and able". I have been so impressed with him that four of us made a special trip up to Govenor's Harbour because we wanted to meet him.

Absolutely perfect

We had a wonderful stay at Monticello! I came with my husband, 2.5 year old son, brother-in-law, and 6-year-old nephew. I was worried initially about how kid friendly it was going to be but it was perfect. Lots of sand toys - pails, snorkels, bocce balls, floaties, beach chairs, boogie board,... tennis & badminton rackets, bicycles... Unfortunately the kayaks had blown away in a wind storm before we arrived so we rented from a local guy that Barbara had recommended and had a great day visiting the cays off North Palmetto beach. Clean. Lots of towels. Washer & dryer. Well equipped kitchen. Lots of fans - we didn't need to use the AC because it cooled off a fair bit at night. Lots of lounging areas around the property - my favourite was the comfy couch on the back deck! We rented a minivan from BigE's car rental which was great - didn't test it out on the lighthouse beach road but otherwise even some of the bumpy roads were fine! They met us at the airport and guided us to the property which was very helpful after a long journey getting there to begin with. Kelly - the manager - was very helpful. Booked us a reservation at the nearest restaurant - Tippy's for our first night which was great. Offered to buy groceries before our arrival and book a private chef. Our favourite spots were the Bank Road Deli - great cold cuts, cheeses, sandwiches, croissants and coffee!!; The local nature preserve was beautiful and fun; Ten Bay Beach; Governor's Habour friday night fish fry; the Ocean Hole; The Beach House Restaurant... Felt very safe at the property and on the island in general. Barbara was most helpful with setting up our stay. Would recommend to anyone! Hope to be able to come back again one day. Thank you for sharing your place!
