Been all over Abaco- This is the spot!!

5 of 5
We have stayed on Lubbers Quarters, mid- Elbow Cay, North end, Green Turtle, etc. This house is perfect from a variety of perspectives. Location: Easy walk to Sea Spray Marina and Abaco Inn, keep an eye on your boat at the private dock from the master bedroom and an easy cart ride into town. All that and you could toss a small coconut into either the Atlantic or Sea of Abaco in either front or back yard! Our favorite piece was being able to take our rental boat (Abaco Dorado - had a great experience with them) out of White Sound and right over to Tahiti beach. Just an amazing place to swim and hang out. Interior- Our party consisted of two families with three adult (college-age) kids. There are effectively three master suites, one on each level with a fourth bedroom on the ground level with two twins. All four bedrooms have en-suite baths- a key component of remaining friends over vacation.... Beyond that, everything was just right. If you are going to get out of sorts if the power goes out and the generator can't operate the central air, dryer, tv and microwave- go to Sandals in Aruba or stay in New Jersey! That's island life and this home is set up better than any I've seen. With every room opening onto both the ocean and Sea of Abaco, it would be hard to want to close off the awesome breeze. Beyond that, call the caretakers beforehand to double check what you should bring. Maxwells Grocery in Marsh Harbour is essentially equal in selection and price to a Sate-side store. Assume you will need about everything but the bottle of rum I left behind :)

AMAZING house with an AWESOME view

5 of 5
Wow. Our vacation to Elbow Cay was certainly one to remember. The house is well-equipped and perfectly located. Everything is either a golf cart or boat ride away. The view of the Atlantic from the house is without comparison. We watched the sun rise in the morning and stared at the spectacular array of stars every night. The wifi was a nice amenity for staying in contact with family back home.

Special Place to Stay

5 of 5
Although we had stayed at Topside for many years, we had not been in the last four years. We were eager to get back to this special place and we were not disappointed. Topside is maintained at a very high level, not commonly encountered in many Bahamian rentals. Recently, the owners undertook complete refinishing of the wraparound wood deck, cleaning of the cisterns, and replanting the extensive gardens. All of this simply adds to the already magnificent scenery and surroundings. This house also is equipped with wireless internet, central air, and a generator that automatically comes on when the power goes out (not an uncommon event). While we were visiting, the local landlines were down, but a VHF radio and cell phones worked fine. The top deck gives a 360-degree view, both to the Atlantic in the east and the Sea of Abaco to the west. As noted, the house has a fully stocked kitchen (including a wok and a blender), great books, puzzles, and multi-media center. The great room concept with master suites on either end make sharing this house enjoyable. There is another small bedroom upstairs with a half-bath that gives a great view of the lighthouse. The new caretakers have settled in and the place was spotless and fresh cuts flowers from the garden awaited us. The caretakers were available by phone, but we also met them along the road into town. It's a small place, so everyone seems to know who's who. Traveling in late summer, especially after mid-August, you will find that several restaurants and businesses close for a hiatus. The grocery stores and marina stay open, as does the Hopetown Harbor Lodge (in town). A boat, golf cart, or bikes are the only transportation. This is a place to unplug and unwind and Topside is the perfect place to do it.
