We love this place!

5 of 5
We love this place! We have been going to Hope Town every year for the last 12 years, and this is by far our favorite and number 1 choice. Robert and Karen are wonderful hosts, and the facilities meet our needs and desires well. We first stayed at the Gully's Nest (2 BR) but most recently have chosen Gully's Ridge (3 BR) because there were a group of six of us who started going fishing two or three times a year. Actually, some of us were going fishing and some were enjoying time in the islands. This place allows for both. We have our own boat and enjoy the private dock, but still charter Robert for at least half a day (renters get a discount) because the experience is that good. My wife chooses not to fish, but to enjoy lounging on the screen porch or by the pool. With the rental comes a small boat which makes going into town or to visit the lighthouse a simple possibility. They have put in easy access docks which makes getting in and out of the boats pretty easy no matter how high or low the tide. We especially enjoy Gully's Ridge because it's close enough to the restaurants and what's happening in town, but also provides us a sense of privacy.

Fantastic trip to Elbow Cay

5 of 5
We have recently returned from a fantastic trip to Elbow Cay where we stayed at Blue Heaven. We were met by the property manager at the ferry dock and taken up to the property on a golf cart. The house is just as advertised and it is just a beautiful as it looks in the pictures. The beach is beautiful with white sand and a reef that is perfect for snorkeling right out front. In the 11 days we stayed at Blue Heaven we never saw more than a handful of people on the beach so it always felt like we almost had the beach to ourselves. While you are directly on the beach another nice thing is that you are also in the middle of Hopetown so it is a short walk to the coffee shop, restaurants and the small grocery stores. The owners provided a helpful list of restaurant menus, and things to do. We had a great time renting bikes (easy to get all the way around the island on bikes even with a 9 and 11 year old). We also rented a golf cart one day and spent the day at Tahiti Beach. We did a private boat charter with "Captain Plug" which was probably one of our best days. He took us to a deserted island to look for shells, our two boys caught a few fish that we ate that night and we also spent some time snorkeling at one of the national parks. Our best meal was at the FireFly Resort on White Sound (we called ahead and the picked us up with a golf cart). One comment about Elbow Cay that I had seen anywhere before we left is that there are no bank machines on the island and the bank is only open on Tuesday for a few hours. US cash is interchangeable with the Bahamanian currency so I would definitely recommend bringing a fair bit of US cash with you although we found that we could use credit cards for almost anything. Overall we would highly recommend Elbow Cay and can not think of a better place to stay than Blue Heaven.
