For almost 20 years I was fortunate to own the Conch Shell and Conch Pearl and live there for 15 years. In Dec. I sold both to a couple who love the island as much or more than I do. In May I returned as a "visitor" and stayed in the Conch Shell for two weeks and was thrilled with what I found. The new owner has retained the old Bahamian charm of the house while updating it with beautiful furnishings, decor and air conditioning in the bedrooms. My favorite change is a TV room with two sofas that can be used as sleepers or for an afternoon nap after a day of beaching, snorkeling or fishing. The patio now has wonderful outdoor dining, a new grill and even a lounging bed. With all the changes the house has more charm and comfort than before and still offers a great location--convenient to the deli for morning coffee, French toast, etc. and delicious sandwiches and salads for lunch and gourmet grocery items; close to the Pigly Wigly grocery store and other fun shops even though the pink sands beach is only a five minute golf cart ride away (or 10 min walk). My favorite thing about the location is you are only a short block away from a perfect bench on the harbor to take your cocktails and enjoy the most glorious sunsets imaginable! I was also fortunate to stay in the cottage (The Conch Pearl) and feel the two houses together would make for a perfect family retreat. I'm ready to return!! I know you will love it.
