Best of the best!

5 of 5
My husband and I stayed at Ida's "sea shell" cottage for 6 nights and had the absolute best time. Everything about our stay was perfect - the cottage, the views, the beaches, the people of Black Point, our trips to surrounding cays…the list goes on. Ida is so wonderful to deal with and made sure all of our needs were taken care of, starting with picking us up at the airport and showing us around the cottage when we arrived. Anything we needed, she was right there. Her and her husband’s hospitality made us feel very welcome and taken care of. The cottage had everything we needed for the week – kitchen supplies, air conditioning, wifi (although not the best connection), bedding, beach towels, and a golf cart to get around the island. It was immaculately clean when we arrived. But the best thing about the cottage by far is its location overlooking the beautiful Black Point bay with beach access (including lounge chairs) and perfect views of sunsets over the bay. Things to do: happy hour at Scorpios (food/drink deals and lots of cruisers go) and lunch/dinner at Deshamon’s and Lorraine’s. The service and food (especially at Lorraine’s and Deshamon’s) was wonderful and reasonably priced (e.g. grilled grouper with peas and rice, veggies and salad for $22USD). We also bought loaves of coconut bread from both restaurants which is homemade and delicious. For groceries, there is a store called Adderly’s which had a lot of staple items and wasn’t too expensive. Renting a boat from Ida was the highlight of the trip for us. The first time you rent, you go out with a guide and he took us to the beaches where you feed the pigs and iguanas (a must-see!), showed us all the good snorkeling spots and pointed out the best cays and spots to visit. I cannot even describe how beautiful the water and cays are – the colours of the water are surreal and you have your choice of deserted beaches to pull up to and enjoy on your own. If you rent a boat, I also recommend spending some time in Staniel Cay and eating at the yacht club there. The food was great and it’s a beautifully-decorated spot right on the water. Black Point also has its own beautiful beaches that you can get to using the golf cart. One of them (on the south end of the island) was one of the prettiest beaches we've ever seen. It was so hard coming home after a wonderful week on Black Point. I really hope to be back again next winter! Thank you Ida and Terrance for such a memorable week!
