Our party of 4 just spent the most amazing 9 days in Black Point! From the plane ride over we knew we were in for the vacation of a lifetime! Ida's husband, Terrance, greeted us with a smile at the airport, loaded up our luggage, and quickly whisked us away to our cottage. The views were breathtaking! The front porch faced the Atlantic ocean with it's deep blue waters and waves crashing against the rocky beaches. The back porch featured a panoramic scene of the Caribbean, lined with sailboats and calm, crystal clear turquoise water. Our cottage was stocked with our requested groceries as promised and Ida even had a loaf of fresh, homemade coconut bread waiting for us. The cottage was very clean and comfortable. The satellite tv and wifi were nice perks. Ida made us feel at home, bringing us a fruit platter one day, delivering fresh seafood, and even giving us handmade souvenirs before we left. she made a boat readily available to us when we were ready to rent one and we explored all the sights: the swimming pigs, iguana beach, Staniel Cay, various sandbars and Thunderball Grotto. The golf cart that was included in our rental was invaluable! It allowed us to get out and explore all of Great Guana Cay and discover hidden beaches along the way. We can't recommend Ida's cottages enough! We are telling all of our friends and family about our wonderful vacation and we will definitely be back again soon. Thank you Ida and Terrance for making it an unforgettable stay!

The Most Amazing Experience

5 of 5
I can't begin to describe how wonderful our trip was to Black Point. Lorraine and her family were so welcoming and truly made this trip one I will never forget. Our immediate regret was not reserving enough time here. We were able to add a couple more days and it was still hard to leave. The cottage was perfect for my friend and I and, like many others suggested, we brought frozen meats, cheeses, and alcohol as they were a bit hard to find on the island. If you need something though, Lorraine will either have it, or tell you where to find it. She also owns a bar/restaurant in town that stocks plenty beer and alcohol if you need :) The cottages are set on a hill between two beautiful beaches. We loved having a cart to explore the island and get from the cottage into town. The feeling you get here is almost unexplainable as I've never been anywhere with a 0% crime rate and a community that welcomes you like family. We loved learning about the culture in Black Point, how to clean and cook conch, attending church (led by Lorraine's mother, who also makes the best coconut bread) and getting a tour of the Cays from her brother. We fed iguanas, swam with pigs and sharks, and snorkeled into the magical Thunderball Grotto. I don't recommend brining dive gear here. We intended to dive out of Staniel Cay, which closed permanently after we booked our trip, and the pilot of Flamingo Air frowned on the excess weight we would've left had we known. We were in no way disappointed because the snorkeling was top notch if you figure out where to go. If your idea of vacation is touristy resorts, this place is not for you. It's perfect for friends and family that can make their own fun, love exploring, immersing themselves in culture, and want to see the most beautiful water and beaches around. Not only would I recommend vacationing here, but I would move here if I could :) I will be returning in the hopefully near future as I miss it and the people every day.
