Secluded Phuket

4 of 5
With a view and location like this its hard to find much wrong with the world, let alone the apartment. Of all the options in Phuket I think this is one of the better vacation stays. Its out of the main tourist zones and right on the Sea without being a resort, which is exactly what I was looking for. Just a couple of clarifications that I don't think are clear on the listing; Even though this is listed as an apartment, the building is comprised of some hotel rooms and 2 other privately-owned apartments (one on the floor below and one above this particular unit). Therefore, there is a front desk, daily made service, and a concierge, similar to a hotel. Not complaining about that, of course. Oddly, though I was asked for a security deposit from the front desk staff even though I made a sizable deposit (L1,000) through Homeway to the owner. (Sidenote: I had to request a refund, it was not automatically sent). The main attraction for staying here, aside from the obvious, was the kitchen. We like to cook and shop for local groceries while on vacation. On the bright side there is a fish monger directly adjacent to the building. We bought fish, prawns and lobsters (!). Funny that no one at the building, nor the owner, knew this place existed. Our luck! There is also a grocery store down the street towards the bars that has just about everything you would need. Downside was the kitchen equipment was not adequate. We made due, but Id like to see it more fully equipped. There was only one (wobbly) large pot, one pan, a few plates, and a couple of knives. Lots of silverware and glasses, however. (Chiana did warn me in advance, after I asked, that this is not her primary residence so it may be lacking on equipment). It was not a problem for us, since it was just the two of us, but the second bedroom is not really a bedroom by western standards. It does have an en suite bathroom but has no exterior window. This wouldn't fly in most parts of the world. So if you are planning to share this place with another couple, keep in mind someone is going to get the substandard bedroom with no natural ventilation. Unfortunately, the immediate area is lacking in authentic Thai restaurants/stands. There are only a few road-side stands towards Surin Beach. For the most part, the area is filled with generic restaurants and resort-type dining. Best to go to Phuket town once or twice for a real dinner. Just a few quibbles. Overall, it was a great stay!

Can it get better? Hard to believe!!

At arrival we were picked up by our extremely friendly and pleasant balinese driver in a brandnew luxury van, who both would accompany and drive us safely for the next 2 weeks. After a approx. 3h picturesque drive through the wonderful balinese countryside, through rice-fields, mountains and old volcanos, stopping whenever you wished to take a photo or a rest at a restaurant, we arrived at the villa, indeed not exaggerating, deserving the description of a tastefully furnished luxury villa, followed by a hearty welcome of all the staff, who would accompany us over the next 2 weeks. There was no wish the staff would not try to fulfill. The cuisine was superb, the house always kept very tidy and protected by a security guard over night. Have we already mentioned the location and view of the house? It is fantastic! Located on a hill, having a 180 degrees panoramic view of the ocean and surrounding fields. In the morning and evenings you can hear the hindu prayers and the muezzin from the nearby villages - this in combination with the beautiful, for a north european, very exotic countryside, makes this experience surrealistic. We enjoyed it every morning and evening and felt like in another world. The location of the house in Serririt is perfect to get away from the masses of tourists in the south, which we fortunately only encountered on arrival and departure. It is a perfect starting point to discover real Bali, whether you travel to nearby Serririt, Lovina or Singaraja, along the north coast or drive up to the extinct volcano mountains. A must to do are a snorkeling tour to nearby menjangan island (1hr drive) and a guided excursion through nearby jungle and rice fields (3 hr walk including lunch). Information for these tours are provided in the house or by the manager. Unforgettable for us will be a balinese dance and music show (gamelan) at the house (can be organized by the staff at your discretion). The question is not whether you should go to this property - but when!

Highly Recommended - We were sad to leave!

We are a family of five from the United States and we stayed here in this apartment for five weeks. We had a fantastic stay, and were very happy that we chose this apartment out of the many that are available in Jerusalem. Don’t hesitate to book!! We will stay there again and will recommend it to anyone we know visiting Jerusalem. I’ll start with location, as it was very important to us. The location of this apartment was great. It took about 15 minutes to walk into the Old City at Jaffa Gate and 15 minutes in the opposite direction to the more modern City Center. In fact, we were able to walk everywhere we wanted to go within Jerusalem from here throughout our 5 weeks. Great local neighborhood - quiet (other than the singing birds!), lots of parks, pretty gardens. If you are going to rent a car and travel outside the city, as we did, there are many companies within walking distance. Onto with the apartment itself. We were obviously there for a long time and needed it to be adequate for our needs, and it was. There was a large master bedroom for us with plenty of storage and comfortable bed. The kids were in the second room on three folding twin beds, which worked well for them but was a little cramped (though never a problem). The kitchen was spacious and had everything we needed to cook, which we did often. The few things it lacked we actually inexpensively bought, so now they should be there - an American style coffeemaker and can opener. The living/dining room was spacious and comfortable. The roof deck is marvelous - bigger than the pictures make it look, and beautiful views and flowers all around. Sunrise out there with coffee and then sunsets with wine can’t be beat! Fast and strong wifi, and plentiful hot water, even for five people. Finally, perhaps what we appreciated the most about booking here - the hosts, Asaf and Sapir. From start to finish they were exceptional (and we’ve stayed in a lot of vacation apartments all over the world). Coming in from a 3 am flight, Asaf was there waiting for us with hot tea and a stocked fridge so that we wouldn’t have to go out for food first thing in the morning. Throughout the five weeks he was immediately available via text for any little thing that came up or question we had. He went out of his way to help us on our plans, researching things far more than I expected and as if it was actually his pleasure to do so.
