Kathmandu Comfort & Hospitality

5 of 5
Warm and welcoming hospitality right from my pick up at the airport to my last day with the very special Nepali hosts residing in this large, comfortable and safe gated property. My room was large and airy with windows opening all around to let in cool night air. The very diligent housekeeper made sure I had flowers and a fresh bottle of water daily and even noticed that my multiple electronic devices may be better served by a power bar, which I found installed in my room only a couple of days after arriving. I was definitely well cared for. My stay was for 16 days and by the time I left I felt like one of the family. Breakfast was made to order and an English language newspaper was waiting for my enjoyment at the table every day. Due to length of my stay I was graciously allowed use of the laundry area on the roof for washing and drying. Also the view from the roof is quite lovely. Fresh sheets and towels were always available by asking. The location is near several good restaurants within walking distance (walk to Ring Road and turn left at the side walk) as well ATM's and other necessary amenities. In fact I would recommend a walk along both sides of the road very early in your stay as much for the Kathmandu experience as for the orientation value. You are not near the tourist area so daily life is more true to reality. It is easy to flag a taxi if you want to go to Thamel or walk less than 10 minutes to a nearby taxi stand at the local mall on Ring Road. I could go on and on about what a terrific place this is to stay in Kathmandu. It is phenomenal value! If I get a chance to return it will be my home away from home each time and every time! A big thank you to the hosts for offering their home to travellers like me! It was a brilliant experience!

Fantastisk sted!

5 of 5

Quiet, clean and wonderful

5 of 5
We were travelling in a group of 4, with 2 of us in their 60s and 70s. We wanted to choose a place to stay that is clean and quiet and feelings more "home-like" than normal hotels. Tsumugi Inn was absolutely perfect. It is not a hotel but a temporary home, kept incredibly cosy and neat. The house is in the middle of town and is about 15 minutes on foot from the nearest train stations, tucked away in a quiet, picturesque little lane. Everything in the house is spotlessly clean, all the appliances and amenities are in perfect order. The host, Mr Kuni, is thoughtful and kind, and very experienced receiving overseas guests. This would be a perfect home for a group of friends who enjoy peace and quiet. A few tips I would like to offer: (i) there is no sofa (we sit on big cushions around a low coffee / dining table) and the bathrooms are on a different floor from the bedrooms, so older visitors should take care; (ii) our host keeps the place very neat and tidy with beautiful Japanese adornments around the house, parents should take care with very young children so they do not swallow (or destroy) anything; (iii) if you are unfamiliar with the rubbish recycling system in Japan it is worth asking a few more questions to make sure - we were sometimes quite confused although I think we did manage not to mess things up too badly in the end. Overall, a lovely place to stay - highly recommended!!
