We can't say enough good things about this place! It's perfectly located a short distance off I-10 on the north end of Tuscon in a very quiet and scenic area. The home is nicer than even the pictures show online, and the pictures are great! Carella, the owner of the house, welcomed us with a fruit basket that was a nice treat as we arrived in the late evening after a long drive from San Diego.
She has thought of everything you wish every owner would think of in a VRBO home. There are plenty of books, movies, hiking guides, and details of things to do in Tuscon. You are close (within 30 minutes) to many major Tuscon attractions including the Sonora Desert Museum and the PIMA Air & Space Museum. Approximately 40 minutes from the base of Mt. Lemmon. Starbucks is less than 5 minutes and grocery, Target, & restaurants within 10 minutes. (less if you catch the traffic lights correctly)
The little things we enjoyed were having spices in the kitchen and condiments in the refrigerator for meals. The bedding was luxurious and very comfortable. (the sheets were heavenly!) The back of the house faces Mount Lemmon which rewards guests with beautiful sunrises every day through the breakfast window. A gorgeous porch looks onto the beautiful landscape and is perfect for taking in a book or enjoying nature. Hummingbirds were feeding as well as some native birds every morning. The pool was a welcome relief and refreshingly cool during our stay.
The house is large enough for families to just stay home and enjoy. We took one day just to watch college football and enjoyed the house for what Carella intended, a place to relax and restore. For our family, this is the home by which every VRBO property will be judged in the future. I felt the price was a great value for the amount of space you enjoy.
DISCLAIMER: I know my review is complimentary but if you're the type of person who wants the latest, greatest granite counter tops and brand new cabinets, this won't be for you. It's definitely beautiful, but it's not the Ritz hotel. We didn't want that kind of atmosphere in our stay, we wanted a place to feel like a refuge, and Carella's Casita definitely fit the bill. If we ever visit Tuscon again, this is where we will stay.
