The rooms in this house were much more spacious than pictures can convey! The kitchen had everything we needed (not to mention the aroma of a fresh-baked pan of brownies on arrival!) I stayed for a month and had siblings and friends take turns visiting. We enjoyed the gas fireplace on cool nights.
There were lots of books and throws and pillows and comfy seating in the ‘TV’ room when we wanted to curl up and read or get online (or watch TV). There was plenty of room around the dining room table for eating or playing games too.
The location was perfect! Hiking near Sedona was just a 15-30 minute (spectacular!) drive away, depending on the trails we chose, and yet we felt mostly sheltered from crazy tourist traffic because we were in a quiet area in Cottonwood, where there were horses all around, and roosters to wake us up in the morning. We ate out in Cottonwood a lot – so many wonderful choices. And of course, the grocery is close by, as is everything else we needed. (Even Old Town was within a mile or two.)
Anita was the perfect hostess. (Did I mention the brownies?) She always responded promptly to phone or text queries. She wasn’t there to greet us (I wouldn’t expect that; actually prefer getting to settle in) but she called ahead to drop by one time just to see how we were getting along, and came by another time at our suggestion to check into something minor. (We couldn’t find the remote to the DVD-player.)
She provides countless brochures and books so that we could find quick answers to any questions. (For example, the Scat and Tracks book convinced us we had come across tracks from a herd of javelina on the Long Canyon trail!) The info on local restaurants and menus and park hours and trail books, etc. were very helpful.
I’ve already booked my return!
