After an exhaustive search on several websites, including Craig's List (where you will find every scam known), I found this house on HomeAway for our family gathering to attend my Aunt's memorial/interment, and also to have a family reunion of sorts (Auntie was 95, so it was also a celebration of her life). Anyway, we arrived on a Thursday afternoon at 3pm, greeted warmly by the owner, and quickly realized what a great find this house was. Located in a residential and quiet neighborhood, the outside is unassuming and average, but once you walk inside it is sprawling and spacious and nicely appointed. We had large bedrooms for everyone, especially the Master Suite which is HUGE. The outdoor living was wonderful. There is seating for about 16 people in three different areas in the lush and private back yard, surrounded by neighboring citrus trees - some with fruit you can actually access :-) Blood oranges, Grapefruits, and Lemons. When we discovered our first night that we had no propane for our BBQ, we sheepishly called the Owner who lives a few miles away and asked what to do. He dropped everything and brought us a new canister within 15 minutes. The pool and patio were well kept and clean as was the home. The kitchen has tons of appliances, the only thing missing is a large stockpot, which I would recommend the owner purchase. We made a large pork roast for shredded pork tacos and had to borrow from relatives. OH, and more dish towels! We could only find two. There are plentiful and SHARP knives, lots of wine glasses and prep dishes. We didn't realize there was a pantry until after we purchased some basic supplies (olive oil, steak seasoning, etc.) so check that out upon check-in before you shop. The beds were fantastic. We brought our own pillows from home because we are never happy with pillows on the road. But these were lovely fluffy down pillows and the linens and beds were really comfortable. BONUS! Bottom line is this was the perfect place for our family to relax for 4 days and just hang out in the back yard. As for the reservation process, that was also smooth. After I had encountered so many scam rentals on Craig's list I was very cautious and had my cousin go tour the house before we booked it. I also looked up the agent to make sure he was legit and everything checked out. So bottom line, this was a great vacation home, convenient to everything (airport, freeway, groceries, drug store), yet tucked away in a tidy little neighborhood. BOOK-IT!!
