Prior to leaving for our vacation, there was excellent communication with the rental owners/team. All my questions were answered in a timely fashion and I was made comfortable before I even left for the airport. My boyfriend and I arrived at the Casita the afternoon of May 7, 2015 where our rental vehicle had it's own parking spot. We got settled away and then hit up the nearby grocery store (which was cheap compared to Canadian prices) and bought some food, beer etc. Paul and Tristan, who live in the main house, were eating their supper on the back patio and we were introduced and had a chat. They made us feel right at home and they were very nice and friendly. That evening we relaxed in the hot tub and watched the sunset over the beautifully landscaped back garden.
We took a couple swims in the infinity pool which was a nice escape from the pool-side heat. We had a lot of privacy but knew that Paul and Tristan were close by if we needed anything at all. Paul even let us borrow his personal cooler for a couple day trips we made. In the evening the view reaches all the way into Phoenix which is surreal as you can hear the coyotes howling only a mile or two away. There were hummingbirds, little desert rabbits and adorable Javalina (little piggies) who came to eat our vegetable scraps. I didn't see any snakes on my visit except the one at the wildlife center. Maybe next time.
I'm going to trail off from the rental for a moment just to include some good information about the area of Mesa. The morning after we arrived we went to Arizona Outback Adventures in Scottsdale and rented mountain bikes for use during our trip. Great service. They even included a bike rack. A couple mornings we rode down Las Sendas Mountain and took a right just before Power Road intersection onto a small trail that follows the side of the highway. Then we crossed the road to another trail (at the second steel light post) and back up the BIG hill. Very nice ride in the morning when it isn't too hot. Pemberton Trail at McDowell Mountain Regional Park was also great. This one took over two hours and was more of a workout. I am a beginner and I was able to do both trails. We also rented a boat at Saguaro Lake for an afternoon (only 20-25 mins from the casita).
If you are interested in booking this property, do not hesitate. There is a reason I'm giving it 5 stars. Clean, cozy and has everything from tupperware to a bbq brush. I didn't want to leave! Already planning the next visit :)
