Stayed in Recoleta area of Buenos Aires, AR March 20 thru March 25, 2014. Planned our first trip to So. America last July. Originally booked a very nice hotel in central downtown area; however after researching my most trusted Travel advice site, it appeared it was not the area for us. Decided we would stay in Recoleta area. Further research lead to Mike's BA apartment.
First inquiry, Mike personally called me from U.S. residence. I booked condo/apt in center of Recoleta at avenue General Las Heras/Junin. Absolutely the right choice for us. We stayed in a modern, very clean, fully accommodating unit right in the center of Recoleta. We had scores of restaurants and sites within blocks. Very active and safe neighborhood. Recoleta Cemetery and Eva Peron's tomb were top on our list and only a block away!
Admit I was a little concerned, since this was the very first time after lots of travel not staying in a hotel. We were so well taken care of that our experience with Mike made this so much better. Especially enjoyed the "at home" freedom and comforts an apt gave us and all the ambiance such a large space provided. We had a full bath & half bath, 2 Tv's, full kitchen - coffee maker, etc., if needed, full detailed apt sop Guide and advisory booklet in apt, along with tourist books and maps. A grocery and pharmacy several doors away. Recoleta. Shopping Mall a block away. Hsbc ATM a block away.
This was a real value for us comparing the kind of hotel accommodations we would want & costs vs. these wonderful accommodations very good rate we paid. All of this made our visit wonderful, but the advice and the assistance Mike's provided was "icing on the cake" to the point of arranging very reasonable From & To airport trips, including a 4:15 a.m. wake-up call! Returning to Ba, we would want this same apt. Note, any travel, you take taxi's. Taxi rates are incredibly low vs. Europe and even USA.
