Spectacular – in every way!

5 of 5
This was our first trip to Anguilla – but not our last! We savored every moment of our time spent in Anguilla, but especially when we were staying at the Moonraker. Pick your favorite luxury hotel – and this is better. Pick your favorite superlatives, they can be used interchangeably to describe the Moonraker experience. And believe the reviews and info on the website. They are all true. The Moonraker is set on a bluff, surrounded by absolutely stunning views of the ocean. The location is perfect – it is high enough up to allow a gentle breeze (which means no bugs) and at night, the most fabulous star gazing you can imagine. It was just my husband and me on this trip and we were comfortable the minute we walked in the door and that feeling remained throughout our stay there. The house itself is spacious, comfortably appointed and extremely well maintained. The kitchen is THE best stocked kitchen of any house/villa rental we have experienced, with no detail overlooked, including plenty of dishtowels, cloth napkins and placemats. For the majority of our stay, we cooked dinner “at home” and had our lunches on the beaches. As good as the kitchen was, I must say, the pool is THE BEST! I couldn’t seem to stay out of it. It is deep and huge and oh, so inviting. I don’t believe I paid much attention to the pool when selecting the Moonraker, other than there was a nice one. Here I am, two months later, and still thinking about that darned, enticing pool. When we were there, we were either lounging somewhere on the pool deck or in the pool. Not connected to the Moonraker per se, but relevant to perfecting your stay, we did find some unbelievable places to eat – with both of our regular haunts very nearby the house. Please don’t leave without at least one trip to Nat’s Place at Junk’s Hole, AKA Palm Grove Bar & Grill for lunch. We were at Moonraker for 12 days, and ate at Nat’s for lunch three times! We became addicted to his specially prepared red snapper & grilled lobsters. And Au Ban Pain Bakery. Go early, and daily. Finally, no review of the Moonraker would be complete without a shout out to both Paul, the owner, and Georgia, our housekeeper. They were both very friendly, professional and gracious. Georgia helped to really bring Anguilla and its genuine hospitality right to our doorstep. Thank you Paul, Georgia, Nat and everyone who made our stay so spectacular – in every way! We will see you next year.

Paradise At The Bird

5 of 5
The Bird or Paradise in Anguilla is even more beautiful than what we expected from the online photographs. We traveled with 3 other couples, flew into St. Martin and took a boat over to Anguilla, arranged by the concierge. We were met at the dock and driven to the Bird. After a long day of travel, we enjoyed the magnificent view of turquoise waters and warm breeze as the chef prepared drinks and delicious island cuisine to welcome us to Anguilla. We had the villa to ourselves and it was wonderful. Attention is paid to every detail from the Bulgari bath products to the cheerful and helpful staff. The rooms are spacious and well appointed. The chef prepared breakfast every morning, and then we hopped around the island enjoying beaches, beach bars and restaurants at Mead's Bay, Sandy Ground, Shoal Bay and Crocus Bay. A member of our group enjoyed driving--this is a British island, so one drives on the left--but we were told the Bird has a personal driver available for future guests. The Bird's beach is only a 5 minute walk and we were also happy to swim and lounge there. We would recommend Scilly Cay for lobster and crayfish, Straw Hat for dinner, Bankie Banx for drinks and music, Elvis for drinks, and Blanchards Beach Bar and DaVida for lunch and the Pump Hose for music and dancing. St. Bart's is only 15 minutes by private plane and makes a fun midweek day excursion. We would highly recommend the Bird of Paradise and Anguilla. Pack lightly because it's a very casual island.

Honeymoon Heaven!

5 of 5
We were lucky enough to spend our Honeymoon (December 2012) at Moonrakers, Anguilla – having seen photographs of the property before we arrived, nothing prepared us for the reality of arriving in paradise! The Villa provides the highest standards of luxurious accommodation – beautifully furnished, well equipped and stunningly located. Every aspect of the Villa has been lovingly and thoughtfully chosen, and I must say that The Moonraker Team are truly exceptional, owners Paul and Linda, and the girls at the Villa Georgia and Brenda went above and beyond to make our honeymoon truly magical. We spent two weeks exploring Anguilla and enjoying the Villa, I must say that the location of Moonrakers is fabulous, uninterrupted sea views, peaceful and tranquil location – you feel like you are the only guests on the Island up there! We enjoyed the culinary delights of Chef Tyrone during our visit – great chef and a genuinely great chap – so friendly and cheerful, he spent time with us giving us hints and tips on where to go on the Island, really wonderful. The Island offers some fantastic hidden treasures, the beaches are out of this world – picture postcard, and we enjoyed some fantastic meals and great live music (especially on a Sunday at Gwens or The Dune). My advice - embrace “Anguillan Time”, we all lead busy, hectic lives, and visiting Moonrakers, Anguilla allows you to leave your everyday life at the door. Step into unrivalled luxury and paradise and enjoy the Island charm. There is something magical about Anguilla. A very, very special place, a fabulous Villa – a perfect honeymoon. Never to be forgotten.
