Wonderful and Unique Place to Stay

5 of 5
My husband and I recently stayed at the Ferre Cabin located right on the property at the Chena Hot Springs resort. Although not affiliated with the resort you would almost never know. It is right on the property just steps from the parking lot. We had an absolutely wonderful time. I was a smidge worried about the fact that the cabin was dry with no bathroom but it really turned out to not be a huge problem. There are bathrooms all around the resort as well as outhouses. Personally, we found the outhouses a little smelly and yucky (to be assumed) but my husband and I each found a bathroom we preferred. I liked the one in the main lobby/restaurant area and my husband preferred the one in the activity center. Both about only a 1 min walk from the cabin. I think as long as your aware and prepared to live a few days in a cabin without running water it is no big deal at all. The owners provided ample water/sodas and snacks in the cabin- we had also thought ahead and brought some drinks, snacks and small food items of our own which ended up being a real life saver because the one restaurant at the resort can get really busy at meal times. There is also a small café in the activity center that serves strictly frozen food items. There are showers available in the locker rooms that lead to the hot springs and it costs 15$ for a day pass- we brought our own soap/shampoo, etc I cant express enough what a wonderful unique experience we had staying here. We were extremely lucky with the aurora and saw the lights so bright and clear every night we were there. we heard from other hotel guests that the snow cat ride and a night visit to the Aurorium were really extraordinary and beautiful. However, my husband and I prefer to avoid crowds and those activities were extremely crowded. We simply set up the folding chairs provided in the cabin out right in front of the cabin each night and still enjoyed a magnificent light show every night- with the convenience of being able to bop into the cabin to warm up or grab a snack, etc. Due to staying up so late most nights we were content to take a mid morning or afternoon nap most days in the cabin and snuggle up on the EXTREAMLY comfy and HUGE bed and watch one of the many DVD's provided (although all DVD's listed on the reference sheet were not actually there- not a big deal though, there was still an ample selection). Bottom line I would highly recommend this cabin. We had one of the most wonderful times of our lives. Thank you!!

Nicely decorated, beautiful views!

5 of 5
We spent 4 nights at the Knoll house during our two week trip to Alaska and this was our favorite of the accommodations. It's too stinking cute for words! We hadn't seen many pictures of Knoll before we arrived but were very pleasantly surprised when we arrived. The house was well appointed, well cared for, decorated very nicely and was very welcoming. We enjoyed the views too! A previous reviewer complained about limited water during their stay...at check in Norman explained to us that they have a water tank to provide water and that he is happy to get more water whenever you need it, but please be conservative. We were 5 people, 4 nights and we never ran out! If you are environmentally conscious this is a non-issue. Overall we very much enjoyed our stay and hope to come back one day to see the northern lights! I wouldn't hesitate to book here again! My only suggestion would be to add a good mixing bowl & measuring cups to the kitchen....I think those were the only two items I needed but couldn't find - they very well could have been there and I just overlooked them. A hair dryer would have also been a nice addition :) Thanks again for allowing us to stay in your beautiful home, we had a lovely time!
