Lovely weekend on Lake Wilson

5 of 5
This was our home for a wonderful October weekend. The weather was perfect, the wildlife beautiful and the accommodations just right. The cabin is just as described in the listing; plenty of room, well appointed kitchen, clean, relaxing screened porch with rockers and comfortable bedding. The resort has a lovely setting on the shallow water of Lake Wilson. You are minutes from Wheeler Dam and 6-8 miles to the nearest grocery. We prepared meals in the cabin. There are no on site restaurants. The resort store is open 8-5 but poorly stocked, except for ice. The main gate is closed in the evening for security and your code allows entrance.Wifi is available, but a bit slow. Direct TV allowed us to watch Saturday NCAA football. Each cabin has a permanent grill and picnic table, with a nice area for outside play. The resort has tennis, pool, two playgrounds and a boat launch with fish cleaning area, but we used none of these. We did enjoy walking the property and viewing the beautiful sunrises and sunsets. The migrating coots along with the pelicans and cranes kept our attention on the water. The only boat traffic is a rare fisherman, so the quiet adds to the peaceful atmosphere. Our stay was near perfect and working with the owner through VRBO was easy and glitch free. It would be a great place for family reunions. Cabins are rather close, so on a busy summer holiday weekend, I could imagine the atmosphere not being as peaceful as what we enjoyed. We hope to return and would highly recommend this for couples or families

Slice of heaven!

5 of 5
My husband and I spent nearly a week at this amazing cabin for our 10-year anniversary. We can't say enough about this home, this region and the kind locals who live and work around the area. The cabin itself is beautiful and well designed and decorated. The paintings are truly lovely and I found myself getting lost in them. The location this cabin is perched upon is breathtaking. We spent hours on the deck in the rocking chairs admiring the valley during the day with a book and a coffee, and a starry night accompanied by the symphony of the forest with a glass of wine. The owners shared their favorite swimming and waterfall spots with us as well as places to dine. We fell in love with each one. The canyon is just ripe with adventure and beauty. My husband personally loved driving the Lookout scenic route as well as Martha's Fall cliff jumping. The home is not only beautiful but also comfortable and cozy and incredibly clean. We are from the deep South and love to cook and found the kitchen wonderfully equipped. This cabin met and exceeded all of our needs and desires. We can't wait to go back with family and see the valley in the Fall. I can only imagine the beauty of the changing of the leaves. Thank you so much to the owners for such an incredible vacation spot and wonderful amenities and personal advice of the area.

Beautiful lake!

4 of 5
The cabin is great, all the necessities and then some. It rained part of the time we were there, and we thoroughly enjoyed family time playing the games that are provided. The dock is great; we had a good time fishing and a blast with the kayaks - definitely an added bonus. Stores and restaurants are close enough. Beds are comfortable, especially the master which seems to be a full memory foam mattress. The only thing we would say is the neighbors are a bit too close if you're looking for a private get-away, and the living room could use some curtains for privacy, especially after dark; and as she clearly states in the listing, there is dog hair if you have allergies. All in all a great value for a 2 br, 2 ba cabin ON the lake!
