Everything I had dreamed of, and then some!

5 of 5
When looking for a vacation spot, my goals were to find a secluded place with a lake that I could bring my dogs and allow them to play off leash. Ducky's Swamp Farm was the perfect choice. It has all of the amenities of a hotel in the city (comfy beds, cable, and wifi) and is located within a 10-15 minute drive of several restaurants (we drove by several sit down restaurants and 2 Chick-fil-a) and major stores (Lowes, Super Walmart).. Better yet, there is a full kitchen (range/oven, toaster oven, microwave, and large french door refrigerator) and laundry room. The home has all of the luxuries for guests not interested in being "in the woods" with a private lake and plenty of woods to explore for guests looking to spend some time with nature. The lake is amazing and there are boats and canoes available to use. For the boats, bring an outboard motor and plug for optimal enjoyment. Paddling around the lake in the canoe to see the beaver hut and dam was a lot of fun! There is a fire pit next to the lake to enjoy and great fishing fun. It rained heavily the day we arrived and a couple of evenings during our stay, but it did not diminish our enjoyment one bit. The biggest hassle was having to bathe the dogs multiple times a day before letting them back in the house because it was muddy and they were having so much fun swimming and romping around in the mud for us to stop them. If you bring pets, I highly encourage you to bring plenty of blankets/sheets to cover the sofas to help keep them clean. It relieved a great deal of stress not to have to worry about the dogs leaving hair or dirt on the beautiful furniture. Also, bring your dog beds because your dogs will be EXHAUSTED from all of the exercise. I didn't think my aging, hyper dog was capable of being worn out until this vacation. The owner, Sid, built the house himself and the love and craftsmanship definitely shows. Sid made himself available to us and even accepted our invitation to join us for dinner one night. Thank you, Sid, for the best vacation. I can't wait till our next visit.
