A wonderful property that has the look and feel of a "traditional" summer cottage. My business partner (from NYC) and I (from Chicago) spent the week at Waterside. He and I both grew up around water in the 60's and we were both delighted that this spot reminded us of our childhood.
On the whole, Waterside's wood floors have that delightfully well-worn creak from all the parents and kids that have walked across it in years prior. It has period furniture (a few more light fixtures might be helpful) and bedding that is functional, comfortable, and clean. Warerside has a few electronics/wifi for rainy days (and a fine ping pong table for traditionalists) or online communication with the outside world.
It is what cottages used to be built for. A nice place to retire to after being out on the water or down on the pier or walking around the surrounding woods and fields.
The kitchen is well equipped with gadgetry and the laundry room has more stain remedies and detergent for mishaps than you can possibly imagine.
We loved Waterside as much for what it is not as for what it is. What it is, is a home beautifully situated on a lovely, peaceful inlet with neighbor homes well away. And while it does have TV, Wifi, and a DVD player, just to the left is a big picture window with a view that suggests that being outside is better. Wasn't that the whole point of a traditional vacation property?
Lastly, the property owner and manager could not have been nicer or more accommodating. I left some clothing behind and they had it sent off and back to me in no time.
Both he and I would happily return here.
