Spacious, clean and kid friendly

5 of 5
We love to stay at the Salty Dog. It is always very clean. It is also very spacious. We love the multiple level decks and the indoor and outdoor porches. We have stayed here a couple of times. It is very kid friendly. We have 4 children and they love the bikes, toys, movies, tvs, and nearby playground and pool. The beach access is close and within walking disance. The outdoor shower is great. I would definitely recommend this rental to a friend and actually I already have.

Perfect place for our family Thanksgiving!

5 of 5
Spent a wonderful week here with family celebrating Thanksgiving! Sister and her husband from St Louis, niece from Richmond and my husband and me from SC chose to come here since we girls grew up in Mobile and we wanted to visit old friends. The house was even better than expected! Very roomy for 5 adults and very CLEAN! We had everything we needed to cook, even Thanksgiving dinner! The only thing I should have brought were some sharp knives. Thank goodness for Ship and Shore (general store that has EVERYTHING) we were able to buy an electric knife to carve the turkey! Charley was a wonderful host and made sure everything was in order. We loved being right on the lagoon. My husband had a great time fishing even if he didn't really catch anything! (He DID catch some nice Whiting over at the beach). We surely hope to return! A few hints besides sharp knives: Ship and Shore really has just about anything you can need! I tried to think of something they might not have that we would need and couldn't come up with a thing! Of course, they are a convenience store, so prices will be higher than at a regular grocery or discount store. The only nearby restaurant we went to was Baudeans (we did a LOT of cooking!) and it was really great! The service was friendly and the food was good. It was a fun place to meet up with friends. I hope we will be able to return!

Felt like home but with a much better view!

5 of 5
My husband, daughter and family spent the week of Thanksgiving at this lovely home. The kitchen is spacious and has gorgeous views of the sound and extremely well equipped. The living room was comfortable, warm with the gas fireplace. The firepit hosted some s'more toastings. The boys (6 and 8) were enamored of the hammock. The storage room held tons of stuff from sand toys to an ice maker. It is only a short walk to the gulf side and even though I am 55 years old, I was almost giddy every time I saw dolphins there. The sand is beautiful- white and soft and no trash anywhere. It was not crowded at all. Thes house was extremely clean with more towels than anyone could use. Comfortable beds. When we got to the house, the whirlpool tub pump was running and we could not shut it off. I called the homeowners and Ed told me how to turn it off at the breaker box. A few hours later, a maintenance man came to check it out. He couldn't figure out how to fix it. Within a few minutes, Carol called me back. I assured her that we were not a bit concerned about the use of the tub. . She was so sweet and easy to work with through the entire process. I highly recommend this house and cannot wait to come back to Dauphin Island.
