St Patrick's Day Parades
March 17It's all about Ireland, or specifically Saint Patrick, on St Patrick's Day - and that means lavish parades, plenty of celebratory food and drink, and green overload. Short of enjoying the festivities in Ireland, the best way to take in the holiday is with a USA parade. The best St Patrick's Day parades can be found in the following cities:
- Kansas City - enjoy post-parade beverages at Westport
- Hot Springs - if you like your parades short and sweet, this smaller parade is always hosted by a celebrity Grand Marshal
- Philadelphia - this one's been going since the 1700s, and attracts half a million spectators, many of them hitting the Irish pubs afterward
- San Francisco - this colorful and historic parade is definitely the best on the West Coast
- Savannah - this uber-popular three-hour parade marches through the Historic Park District, and features green fountains
- New York City - it's the biggest St Patrick's Day parade in the world
- Chicago - after checking out the Chicago River, dyed green, head to Columbus Drive to check out one of the best parades in the US
- Boston - it's the oldest and one of the biggest
