Things to do in Lake LBJ

Lake LBJ has several things to do on your vacation.
Lake LBJ is filled with activities for people of all ages. Whether you live there year-round or come for a visit, you'll find yourself easily entertained. The water is awesome, but the area offers a lot more than water sports.

Nightengale Archaeological Center

Who says good can't come out of bad? In 1988, looters tried to steal artifacts from some LRCA land. This led to the discovery of a major archaeological jackpot. Over 171,000 artifacts were recovered including arrowheads, flint tools, and spear points. The prehistoric items date as far back as 6,500 years and maybe even as far back as 10,000 years. The 10-acre area, right on the banks of Lake LBJ, is now considered a State Archaeological Landmark. If you are looking for things to do in Lake LBJ, you can sign up for a guided tour. On this tour, you can walk through displays of local Indian rock art, and you can learn interesting facts such as how scientists think that the area might have been an annual meeting place or a regular festival area for various tribes.

Adventure Tours

If you are a real nature lover looking for things to do in Lake LBJ, the biggest problem you're going to face is deciding which type of adventure to go on. You can go on a tour where you learn about the trees and what lives in them; you can participate in some campfire storytelling where you hear stories ranging from cowboy poetry to tall tales; you can go birding to learn all about the feathered friends around you; you can learn about nature by kayak; and you can even go caving and rappelling. Learning about nature and the environment around you has never been so fun.

Lake LBJ Yacht Club and Marina

The Lake LBJ Marina is a favorite place to go when you are looking for things to do in Lake LBJ. Everyone in the family can gather together for an amazingly fun time. Along with boating and fishing opportunities, it offers a water-park in an enclosed, protected cove. One of the best features of Lake LBJ is the fact that it has a normally constant lake level so you don't have to worry about the park being shut down by low water levels.

Exotic Resort Zoo

If having a chance to interact with an endangered species is your type of activity, then you want to make the Exotic Resort Zoo a priority on your activity list. At this zoo, the animals are encouraged to become people friendly. While you are on a tour learning about the animals from a professional, don't be surprised if an animal comes right after the train for some food. Can you imagine having a buffalo eat right out of your hand? After the tour, or before it depending on your schedule, meander over to the petting zoo. Little ones are bound to love playing and feeding animals such as deer and kangaroos.

History, nature, animals, and adventure surround you when you are in Lake LBJ. Create memories and educate yourself as you enjoy these activities bound to delight people of all ages. Stay in a Lake LBJ vacation rental during your visit.
