What is the Tennessee Renaissance Festival?In the quaint Covington Glen Village in Arrington, Tennessee, visitors can enjoy a marketplace, games, food, and arts and crafts all true to the Renaissance theme. This is a family-friendly event, so feel free to bring the kids along. However, no pets are allowed so be sure to leave Fido at home. With live music, challenges, and over 60 skilled artisans in attendance, this is surely one of the most authentic Renaissance fairs around. The Tennessee Renaissance Festival will be held every weekend in May in 2012, including Memorial Day.
What can I Expect?When you arrive at the Festival, you’ll be greeted by beautiful and colorful costumes. The villagers and the attendees all dress in period costume, so feel free to dress up yourself. You’ll find lots of music, fun games and entertainment, delicious food, and excellent shopping. You can cheer for a knight in a full-armoured joust, visit a full-size replica of a 12th Century castle, and even watch the Birds of the Gauntlet.
You may choose to participate in some of the games. You can choose from games like Bump-a-Monk, Castle Siege, archery, Test of Strength, Jacob’s Ladders, and camel rides. You may also want to catch live shows such as Dragon Joust Quintaine, The Mud Slide, or the Knife and Star Throw. As always, there is great food and live music to keep you entertained if you’ve come more for the atmosphere. Be sure to check out the artisans booths as well for fun gifts and souvenirs.
Where Should I Stay?When you come to the Tennessee Renaissance Festival, make a vacation rental in Nashville or Franklin your home base. There are many vacation rentals close to the festival, so you won’t be far from the celebration. Plus, with a vacation rental you have plenty of room to spread out – you are never cramped for space.
