So what are the differences between these two festivals? Unlike most of the films submitted to Sundance, submissions to Slamdance must be from first-time directors, films without domestic theatrical distribution and having budgets of under $1 million. This makes Slamdance a great festival for creatives trying to make a name for themselves and break into the film industry. The festival accepts submissions for feature-length movies and documentaries as well as shorts, screenplays, and video games.
