Thames Festival
September 10-11 2011
London, England
Plan a vacation in London this September in time for the annual Thames Festival along the city’s famous river. For the past 10 years, London’s Mayor has hosted the annual Thames Festival and each year it attracts more visitors. Don’t be left behind! The festival occurs in central London, between the Westminster Bridge and Tower Bridge, along the river banks and nearby walkways. Best of all, it’s free!
High profile artists and cutting edge events make up the bulk of the Festival’s agenda. Here, street art, pyrotechnics, art instillations, traveling theater, choirs, music and circus acts come together to make the festival a memorable event for all ages. Southwark Bridge is transformed into a string of picnic areas featuring different themed fare. Watch while more than 300 oared boats compete in the River Race. And each night there is a carnival, including the Festival’s main event: Saturday’s Night Festival features a lantern procession, live music, and fireworks - a perfect ending to a jolly good time in London, England.
