The sunny south shore of Kauai is home to Poipu Beach Park, where you can play in the water, lay on the sunny, sandy beach, and watch for whales, monk seals and turtles. Head inland to nearby golfing, mountain biking, horseback riding and hiking. Poipu Beach Park is near Shipwreck Beach, Spouting Horn Beach, Turtle Bay and the Koloa Heritage Trail.
If you want to get away from it all, you'll love secluded Anini Beach , on the north side of the island near Princeville, Hanalei, Kalihiwai Bay and the Kilauea Lighthouse. Go swimming or paddle boarding in the calm waters. Anini Beach is protected by Hawaii's largest reef and is a great place for snorkeling. Polihale Beach is known as Hawaii's longest beach, with 100-foot sand dunes and a view of the Na Pali Cliffs. It's a spectacular spot for whale watching, sport fishing, surfing (or watching surfers), and Polihale is also close to golf, hiking and the botanical garden.
The Kauai Lagoons Golf Club overlooks Kalapaki Beach and the Nawiliwili Bay, a beautiful spot for golf, and also for sailing, kayaking, and playing in the water. Nearby waterfalls and banyan tree jungles will entice you inland for exploring. Kalapaki Beach is near Lihue, the airport and Wailua Bay.
Ke'e Beach, near the Na Pali Coast, is known for amazing sunsets, land and sea caves, ocean wildlife, crystal clear water and its lagoon reef. Visit ancient shrines, hike the Kalalau Trail or watch the sun set over the west edge of Kauai from Ke'e Beach.
