Disney 4th of July
July 4, 2013
Throughout the year there are wonderful festivals and events that lure travelers to Disney World in Orlando, Florida. If you're looking for a family-friendly way to celebrate the 4th of July, check out the Disney 4th of July festivities. Each year the four major theme parks that make up Disney World - the Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Hollywood Studios, and Animal Kingdom - all offer a variety of entertainment including parades, concerts, fireworks displays, and patriotic live entertainment. There is no separate ticket cost for these events; they are all included in your entry fee for the theme parks.
The Disney 4th of July celebrations always take place on Independence Day , regardless of the day of the week it falls on. While some cities celebrate on the Saturday before or after the 4th of July, this is not the case in Disney World. In addition to celebrations at the four theme parks, there is also a street party with live entertainment and fireworks at Pleasure Island in Downtown Disney. Choosing a theme park is completely up to your family and their personal preferences, as each park puts its own spin on the parades, concerts, and fireworks they present for the 4th of July.
Theme Park Details
One way to narrow down a theme park for Disney 4th of July is to simply pick your favorite park, but some travelers want to know more about individual celebrations. In 2011, there was some great entertainment. In the Magic Kingdom there was a fireworks show, "Celebrate America: A Fourth of July Concert in the Sky," at 9 p.m. and two sessions of the Main Street Electrical Parade , at 10 p.m. and again at midnight. In Hollywood Studios there was a Rock n' Glow Dance Party from 7:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., two installments of the Fantasmic! show at 9 p.m. and 10:30 p.m., and a fireworks show at 9:50 p.m.
If you're looking for 4th of July entertainment during the day, you will want to check out the offerings at Epcot. This theme park, which is focused on education as well as entertainment, presents historic figures Betsy Ross and Ben Franklin throughout the day at the American Adventure promenade in addition to a Voices of Liberty 4th of July concert at the America Gardens Theatre Stage at several times throughout the afternoon, including 12:30, 1:45, and 3 p.m. These festivities might be perfect for families with small children who might not stay awake for the 10 p.m. Illuminations Fireworks Show .
The Fine Print
If you're looking forward to a Disney 4th of July, there are a few things to know before arrival. First of all, this holiday is one of the busiest days of the year in the theme parks. Families should choose one theme park and plan on staying for the entire day. During many years, the parks reach capacity and no one else is allowed inside. Visitors should take note that having a reservation at one of the restaurants in the theme park will not get you inside the door if the park is at maximum capacity.
Disney World is a perfect place to bring the kids for a summer getaway. Yet between the hot days and crowded theme parks, everyone in the family is going to need some time to relax. The best way to do so is with a vacation rental. Choose an Orlando condo with a pool and your summer vacation will take on a whole new shape. Spend some days on rides and attending concerts and others splashing around the pool.
