Miami Winter Music Conference 2013
The Miami Winter Music Conference (WMC) is a vital event for professionals in the music industry, but it is also a real treat for electronic music fans, 300,000 of whom attend the event. Every year, artists, producers, promoters, DJs, A&R reps and members of the press come to Miami Beach, Florida for the week-long conference devoted to electronic music of all kinds, and music lovers descend on the city to dance the night away all week at shows featuring the world's top electronic artists. The conference has been going on in one form or another since February 1986 when some 80 dance music industry insiders gathered at the Fort Lauderdale Marriott Hotel. Miami Winter Music Conference Lodging
Miami is an easy city to get to, being the largest metropolis in the state of Florida. The best way to get there is to fly into Miami International Airport. For travelers who prefer to drive, the way to Miami is simple if not easy: you can take I-95 from anywhere on the Eastern Seaboard, even as far north as New York or Boston. If you’re coming from the west (say, from California or Texas), you can take I-10 all the way to Jacksonville, Florida, where you can pick up I-95 south. Traffic will be intense during the week of the conference, though, so flying is really the way to go.Lodging can also be a challenge. The WMC is a huge event with more than 500 related events in downtown Miami and South Beach during the week of the conference, and as noted above, it draws more than 300,000 visitors. The Ultra Music Festival
One of the most impressive shows to take place during the Miami Winter Music Conference is the Ultra Music Festival, which is held every year in Miami's Bicentennial Park. When it was first introduced as a one-day event in 1999, it was so popular that they immediately changed it to a two day event for the next year. The event continued to grow, and as of 2011 it has now become a three day event.
