Miami Food and Wine Festival April 2012, TBD Miami, FL Every year there are fantastic food and wine festivals spread across the U.S. But few of these festivals offer as scenic a background as the Miami Wine and Food Festival. This annual festival takes place
every April and also hosts smaller events throughout the year. This tempting and delicious event supports a worthy cause as well. The United Way does important work in
Miami-Dade County in education, health, and financial stability. All proceeds from this event go to support the United Way.
2011 Festival
The 2011 Miami Wine and Food Festival was packed with events for all types of taste buds. The Taste and Toast event took place in April 14 in Merrick Park in the town of Coral Gables and featured some of the best wines from around the world along with gourmet treats. Beyond tasting events, the festival also includes full dining events, such as
the Food, Friends, and Fun Dinner that featured
celebrity chef Dewey Losasso . If wine is your focus, you will be glad to see events such as Cellar*bration, featuring award-winning wines. There are also events for festival-goers that would prefer to learn about beer, such as
the Brews and Bites Craft Beer Tasting .
History of the Festival
While some newer festivals can lack organization, this isn't the case at the Miami Wine and Food Festival. The year 2011 marked the 16th straight year of this festival that not only promises food and fun but also supports
the United Way . This festival brings together people who love food, wine, beer, and spirits over the course of four days. There are many experts that bring substance to the festival, including sommeliers, notable chefs, renowned wineries, breweries, and more. While the listings of past festivals are a great introduction to the type of events you might witness in the festival, each year is full of new and interesting events too.
Tickets and Locations
One of the most common questions about the Miami Wine and Food Festival is about locations. This four-day festival takes place at a variety of venues throughout the Miami area. Events are not exclusively in
South Beach, however; for example, there are some excellent events in
Coral Gables, an affluent town on the mainland just south of Miami. Tickets are available for all individual events and can be purchased either online at the festival website or by phone. Ticket prices vary greatly depending on the event, and there are different prices depending on whether you want a general admission ticket or a VIP ticket.
