The annual Winterfest Boat Parade, held in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, invites all to embrace the enchantment of lights, decorations, entertainment, music, celebrities and beauty queens. As one of the top ten parades in the world and televised over several stations, you can enjoy the show from your own home or experience the magic yourself. Attracting thousands, both locals and out-of-town guests enjoy this impressive and remarkable event.
Celebrating its 40th anniversary, the Winterfest Boat Parade will be held on December 10, 2011, and begin at 6:30 p.m. Depending on where you sit on the route, the parade will reach you at various times. The Winterfest Boat Parade route runs 12 miles from the New River in Fort Lauderdale, and continues north through the Intercostal Waterway
, ending in Lake Santa Barbara in Pompano Beach. The parade consists of over 100 boats ranging from 20 feet in length to majestic yachts. Each boat is uniquely designed, contributing illumination, splendor, and charm to the glorious and extraordinary lighted parade.
Participating in the Parade
There is no better way to kick off the holiday season than attending the Winterfest Boat Parade, and taking part in the procession of illuminated vessels will enhance your entire experience. With this year's theme titled "Rockin' Boats and Holiday Floats," you can enter your boat in the parade for a small fee of $35, which includes the following events and features:
- Photo of your entry
- Goodie Bag
- Captain's Meeting
- Two tickets to the Winterfest Winner's Circle
- Copies of the celebration aired on WSVN and Comcast
Attending the Event
If you plan to attend the Winterfest Boat Parade, sponsored by Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino, you should consider the accommodation of an affordable and comfortable Fort Lauderdale vacation rental
in the area. Make sure to reserve a vacation rental and a ticket early, as there are thousands of people headed to the area as well as limited seating in the grandstand. There will be additional seating in other areas, but the grandstand will provide a great view of the parade. Cost of tickets varies. Don't forget to bring along money to donate to charities and to buy delicious treats and merchandise.
Aside from viewing magnificent artistic crafts and over 100 adorned vessels, you will see musical performances, stunts, and other presentations throughout the parade. Each area along the 12 mile route is different. Some locations offer entertainment and games before the parade begins, and you can usually get food anywhere along the route.
