HomeAway staffer and former Disney castmember Tiffany Yep gives us the lowdown on her trip to Disney World:

Disney…Disney…Disney. It’s amazing to realize that this single word has so many connections to it.  What’s the first thing you thought of?  Your childhood memories?  Perhaps the image of well-dressed mice came to mind? Maybe you’re actually about to go to Disney for your vacation scheduled next month for the first time. Regardless of one’s connection to it, everyone knows Disney. Now, with that said, there are also a million tips, tricks, and guides to make the most of your Disney vacation. All it takes is a single Google search and you’ve got every blog right in front of your eyes.

But you came here. You visited the HomeAway website to really get some true insight.  And we delivered! What’s the clincher?? With this guide is it comes from the inside!

Yes, as a former cast member of one of the best companies in the world, I have discovered some much needed life hacks to get the best Disney vacation ever. Now be forewarned, this guide isn’t written to tell you where to go, where not to go, or to try and alleviate all the stress that comes with every theme park (aka lines are inevitable, it’ll be hot because well, it’s Florida, rides will have technical difficulties, and exiting the park after fireworks is going to be the longest line of the day). It was written to give you some pointers so you can really be in and enjoy the moments you have with your loved ones!

First of all, ALL the cast members are a wealth of knowledge.  They’ll be able to tell you anything and everything about park activities. If they don’t know right away, give them 2 minutes and they WILL find out. Don’t travel all the way to guest services or hunt down a manager - if you find yourself at Casey’s Corner ordering a 5 hot dogs, 3 orders of corn dog nuggets, 2 cokes, 5 sprites, and a bottle of water, and you want to know when the next meet and greet for Aladdin and Jasmine are going to be, ask the lovely person taking your order!  If they don’t know off the top of their head, all it takes is a quick phone call.  Cast members are everywhere and they’re dedicated to ensure that all your needs, wants, hopes, and dreams are fulfilled as much as possible. For real…scouts honor!

Obviously Fast Passes are also the way to go, but another hack to skip the lines is an obvious one. Go during a parade! The same parades are multiple times during the day…do you really need 3 o’clock parade picture of Mickey despite the fact that you got twelve during the noon parade??

Now there are some perks to staying on Disney property. Extra magic hours are vital to take advantage of. The park will open early or close late for guests staying in Disney resorts. Wake up a little earlier and knock out your favorite rides!  Transportation is also super convenient.  Shuttles, monorails, ferries, various breezeways for walking (eh hemm…Contemporary resort to Magic Kingdom), etc help ease the travel time.

Lastly, game plan. Duh. Make one! While unforeseen events may occur and knock you off track, at least you have a list of what you really want to do. You made quite the trip to go out there – the last thing you want is to forget to do or get one of the main things you wanted. Now don’t forget to take a picture of where you parked as well bring a plastic bag for your phone for the water rides! The picture of Simba lot 16 does nothing if you submerged your phone on Splash Mountain.

Disney is devoted to going above and beyond the call of duty to ensure that every single guest has memories to last them a lifetime. Keep that in mind. Young and old alike come from miles around to take part in the magic, and all cast members acknowledge and appreciate that.  Because we know…”a dream is a wish your heart makes…”
