New Jersey is a hot summer destination known for old fashioned diners, classic Boardwalks, ice cream cones, salt water taffy, and of course – the Jersey shore. While the Garden State may not be the first place you think of when planning a beach vacation, the Jersey Shore has much to offer for all ages. Find out for yourself why so many people, especially those who live on the East Coast, visit New Jersey each summer.
New Jersey Shore
New Jersey’s shoreline stretches from Sandy Hook in the north to Cape May in the south, and
offers more than 100 miles of white beautiful beaches along the Atlantic Ocean. Participate in your favorite water sports, beach volleyball, or just soak up the rays. Visit the world-famous boardwalks in Jersey’s beach towns like Point Pleasant Beach, Seaside Heights, Atlantic City, Ocean City, and Wildwood. The Ocean City Boardwalk combine food, games, and carnival rides in a quaint ambience. The result? Fun for the entire family.
Atlantic City Nightlife
Sometimes, adults want to have some fun of their own. If you’re not traveling with kids this summer, consider heading to one of the casinos in Atlantic City. You can lay low and stick to the slot machines in hopes to hit it big. Or if you have a hunch that luck is imminent, try your hand at Roulette or Blackjack.
Golf & More
New Jersey also has several executive golf courses where you can practice your line drive or play a few leisurely rounds. For a treat for the kids, spend the day at Six Flags Great Adventure, Wild Safari and Hurricane Harbor in Jackson.
New York Day Trips
Visit the Statue of Liberty and the Ellis Island Immigration Museum on Ellis Island. This is the first thing many of our ancestors saw when coming to this country, so put yourself in their shoes and pay your respects. Ellis Island offers great opportunities to know more about our country and how it functions as a melting pot. Visit the site of one of the biggest battles in the American Revolution. Monmouth Battlefield State Park’s preserved eighteenth century landscape and . Watch a re-enactment of the famous battle that takes place each June – watch out, though! You may get recruited!
New Jersey is also home to several wineries. Find one near your destination or plan a day hitting a few of the wineries found along the New Jersey Wine Trails. If pampering is more your speed, head to a nearby spa and spend a few hours getting a facial and massage. Pier Village is a must-see for those looking to shop til they drop. With over thirty oceanfront stores and restaurants, you won’t run out of things to do here – and it provides a break from the beach.
