Held annually in beautiful Newport Beach, California, the Newport Beach Film Festival is a spectacular event dedicated to bringing Orange County the best in cinema from around the world. This festival showcases emerging talent as well as new works from popular filmmakers. Beyond watching the movies, there is also a variety of other activities available to participate in from meeting the filmmakers, attending industry parties and volunteering, all of which helps make this festival a successful event year after year.
2012 Newport Beach Film FestivalThis year, the Newport Beach Film Festival is scheduled to take place from April 26 to May 3 and will feature 350 films from 40 different countries. Film genres will vary from documentaries to action films and range anywhere from 20 minutes long to over an hour. Though content varies wildly from film to film, there will be movies available for fans of all ages. The festival will also feature other special events, such as red carpet premieres, question and answer sessions for the filmmakers, gala celebrations, musical performances, fashion shows and more.

- Documentary - These pictures are shown on a variety of subjects from the arts to human rights and political issues.
- Action Sports - This category showcases documentaries as well as narratives about extreme sports.
- Animation - In this track, any genre is accepted as long as the film is animated.
- Family - This category shows narratives, documentaries, and animation pictures suitable for the whole family.
There is also a youth competition featuring short videos created by students 18 and under.
