Everyone Can Play
Aside from being close to the many Orange County beaches and golf courses , Anaheim vacation rentals are close to several attractions and activities to keep everyone in your group busy and happy. Many consider Orange County the place to go for a visit to a famous theme park or designer shopping. To help get you started on planning your Southern California vacation, we've compiled a list of some of the great things to do in Anaheim.
Theme Parks in Anaheim
Anaheim is home to the original all-American theme park – Disneyland. Known as “The Happiest Place on Earth,” the park was opened in 1955 and offers more than 60 attractions, rides and other activities the whole family can enjoy. If you’re staying in Anaheim with the kids, take them by Mickey’s Toontown, Fantasyland, Critter Country, Frontierland, Adventureland or Tomorrowland. The shopper in the group can take a stroll down Main Street, and couples enjoy the atmosphere of New Orleans Square.

Knott’s Berry Farm
Starting as a 20-acre farm during the 1920s, Knott’s Berry Farm now offers Anaheim visitors more than 160-acres of rides, food and attractions that can keep thrill-seeking travelers occupied for several days. Roller coasters, a Depression-era restaurant and attractions like the Wild Water Wilderness and Indian Trails cater to a wide range of visitors.
If you’re looking for big theme park fun without the big price tag, Anaheim’s own Adventure City may be on your list of Orange County activities. Admission prices for an entire family compare to single ticket for the bigger parks, so you’ll have plenty of dough left over to enjoy food and refreshments to your heart’s delight. Adventure City offers two roller coasters and 15 other rides, an Adventure City Express Train and bus for transportation throughout the park, petting zoo, shows and plenty of souvenir shops.
90 Minutes from Anaheim: Sea World San Diego
The marine life lover staying in Anaheim will find it worthwhile to take the short drive south of Orange County for a visit to Sea World San Diego. You can see a wide range of marine exhibits, take in shows featuring several trained whales, dolphins, seals and walruses, or take a tour of the animal training and living quarters with one of the park’s staff.
If you’ve traveled to Anaheim in search of celebrity-worthy designer shopping, head to Newport Beach’s Fashion Island for some retail therapy combined with a breathtaking view. Neiman Marcus, BCBG Max Azria, Juicy Couture, Betsey Johnson and more await in this small OC town. You can also head to the South Coast Plaza for Cartier, Versace, Gucci, Prada and other European designers to satiate your appetite for some of the best high-end Orange County shopping.
If designer names without the designer prices are what you’re after, head to The Block at Orange for outlet stores for brands such as Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue, Kenneth Cole, Nike and Levi’s. The Citadel Outlets offer more than 115 stores such as Banana Republic, Lucky Brand Jeans and Juicy Couture. If you need even more stores, just a short drive from Anaheim are the Desert Hills Premium Outlets, with 130 designer names such as Burberry, Gucci, Michael Kors and Dior for your souvenir loot.
If antiques are what interest you most, head over to Old Towne Orange, or Downtown Fullerton, each of which holds a reputation as being the best place in OC to find unique vintage clothes and furniture. Eco-friendly goods and hip handmade fashions are abundant in Costa Mesa at The Lab Anti-Mall and The Camp, just a short drive from Anaheim vacation homes.
