Summertime Activities in Tahoe
Floating Down the Truckee River
One of the main attractions of Lake Tahoe is to float and glide down the Truckee River. There are rafting companies located in Tahoe City which provide you will the equipment you need, so you won't have any responsibilities beyond packing a meal and beverages. Your trip will start in Tahoe City and a shuttle service will take you back to your car when you finish. There are hundreds of hiking trails around Lake Tahoe so you will have no problem meeting whichever difficulty level makes you comfortable. In addition to the hikers, there are many bikers who take to the various trails. The Tahoe Rim Trail is a well known place for hikers and bikers of all skill levels to carve out a piece of the trail for the afternoon. If you are looking for a smoother bike ride, there are paved roads which serve as bicycle trails located on the Eagle Lake Trail head. 
Lake Tahoe Winter Activities
Skiing
South Lake Tahoe - Lake Tahoe features some of the nation's best skiing. Heavenly Mountain Resort is the largest skiing area in all of California and Nevada. The mountain comes equipped with 30 ski lifts and 94 runs across 4,800 acres of skiing area. About 45 percent of the mountain is intermediate ski trails, 35 percent advanced level trails and the remainder are beginner slopes.Heavenly has an excellent ski school on the mountain offering a range of lessons for kids and adults or an entire family. Heavenly Mountain boasts the largest grooming and snow making crew in the area, making every inch of the nearly 5,000 acres of terrain perfect for riding.
North Lake Tahoe - Squaw Valley is just over 9,000 feet at top elevation, and the mountain has 33 ski lifts and 170 trails. It's an easier mountain to ski than Heavenly, with only 30 percent of the trails at expert level. Forty-five percent of its trails are intermediate with another 25 percent dedicated to newer skiers.
