Be prepared to face some serious attitude from store vendors if you don't look the part. Abbot Kinney Boulevard in Venice is the proud anti-Rodeo Drive of the area, offering quirky shops and tons of options without the snobbery and name-brand appeal of Rodeo. The Shops at Charleston Place are home to top-name designers a la Gucci and Ralph Lauren and there's a Saks Fifth Avenue just steps away. If chic boutiques and scrappy local artisans are more your style, head to the Upper King Street Design District .
