Vacations for Families with Young Children
Guide to Kid-friendly Getaways
Vacations are the best way to create memories that will last. Even if you have young children that won't remember the vacation, you'll be able to show them pictures and talk about all the adventures you had. And most of all, you'll remember the trip! There are a lot of vacations for families with young children available. Here is a list of the most popular:
Walt Disneyland and Disney World
The first places that come to mind are the Disney parks located in California and Florida. What's great about these parks is they cater to children of all ages as well as adults. In Florida you can enjoy four theme parks: Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Hollywood Studios, and Animal Kingdom. At the Magic Kingdom, young kids will love, Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin where they become Junior Space Rangers. At Animal Kingdom, watch the 3-D movie, It's Tough to Be a Bug! No matter which Disney park you choose, you're sure to find activities you and your kids will enjoy.
Beaches
One of the best vacations for little kids is going to the beach. They'll be entertained all day with just a bucket and shovel. Whether they're searching for shells or covering you with sand, they're sure to have a blast. When deciding on the right beach for your family, be sure to choose ones that have full time lifeguards and relatively quiet waters. For those heading to California, Harbor Beach in San Diego is a great location. It's a wide beach, which allows you to stay a distance from the water so your kids don't sneak in without you knowing. Also there are lifeguard towers along the beach, a playground, and restrooms. A snack bar nearby is convenient if your little ones get hungry.
Crandon Park in Miami features a two-mile beach with a small amusement park nearby. Because of the lagoon, the water is very calm, making it great for young children. Also located nearby are a splash fountain and a playground. Lifeguards are on the beach to keep your family safe and there's a concession stand in case you get hungry.
Denver, Colorado
If you can't get to a beach, the next best idea for vacations for families with young children is a water park. If you're heading to Denver on vacation, take a trip to Water World, just 20 minutes away. They have areas just for young children including Wally World, a miniature water park that has smaller slides just for little tykes and their parents. While in Denver, head to the Denver Zoo for another great activity for young children. They'll really enjoy the animal shows that are put on throughout the day as well as visiting the many exhibits including the cheetahs, reindeer, and frilled lizard. Other attractions that are great for young children include the Downtown Aquarium, Elitch Gardens (an amusement park, despite the name), and Children's Museum of Denver. The Children's Museum has many hands-on activities for kids including a bubbles station, The Assembly Plant where you use recycled materials to create, and the Center for the Young Child, which has activities for ages newborn to 4 years old.
