Maui MarathonMaui, Hawaii
Sunday, January 20, 2013
It'll still be tough to run those 26.2 miles, but at least you're in an idyllic vacation destination when it's all said and done, and those of you just along to give support to a racer can look forward to sipping Mai Tais, exploring volcanoes and watching for whales. Maui isn't a typical marathon site. As the race begins it will still be dark, which means runners will be treated to the incredible sight of watching the sun rise over Mt. Haleakala. After this much of the course (about 17 miles) follows the coastline and it will also include glimpses of hula dancers, musicians, ocean cliffs and landmarks like Lahaina and Front Street. With a grand finish at Whaler's Village and a whole island waiting to be enjoyed, this might be the most relaxing marathon out there.

Set yourself up to achieve great marathon results (and a little fun as well) by reserving a comfortable Hamptons vacation rental that will give you the ideal jumping-off point for a well-rounded trip.

Hundreds of art galleries, museums and restaurants make this a magnetic cultural center and people watcher's heaven, and the nightlife scene is busy and bright - perfect for post-marathon celebrating. The race will last a few hours but it will take much longer than that to enjoy all that this city has to offer, so book a Berlin vacation apartment rental and look forward to the rewards beyond the finish line.

Denver MarathonDenver, Colorado
September 22, 2012
Don't be dismayed by Denver's mile-high status; the path of the Denver Marathon/Half Marathon is flat enough to leave open the possibility for setting a personal record and it's remarkably friendly to spectators as well. A curvy course makes it easy to watch your favorite runner go by at up to four different points and scenic city parks make the distance more pleasant for everyone. It's a new addition to the marathon calendar but this event is well on its way to becoming a full-fledged favorite partly due to the fact that it's hosted by a solid tourist destination. The Denver Zoo, Denver Aquarium, United States Mint and surroundings that qualify as hiking, golf and mountain biking heaven should make it easy to plan a trip that will keep everyone fully engaged before, during and after the main event. Denver makes a spectacular venue for a hard-fought athletic endeavor in a number of ways, so whether you've been training for the longest jog or can't wait to cheer for someone who has, Denver is a fine place to make a run for it.

It's all about embracing the ultimate challenge, and few marathons can boast of such engaging particulars and guaranteed satisfying results - even if the occasional hill makes it unlikely runners will accomplish their fastest finishing time ever. There's no doubt that San Francisco welcomes visitors with an array of diversions that range from Presidio National Park to primo restaurants and shopping, so husbands, boyfriends, pals and family members of the marathoners will happily come along for the ride. It's a competition and a celebration rolled into one, so if you believe that running 26.2 miles can include aspects of pampering, glamour and quality vacation time as well, set your sights on this smartly accessorized marathon.
