Cuiaba will serve as one of the host cities for the 2014 FIFA World Cup. It's the capital of the Brazilian state of Mato Grosso.
Cuiaba brings together an eclectic cultural mix of Portuguese, African and Indigenous influences. In fact, much of the local cuisine, dance, music and craftwork derive from Native South American culture.

Cheer your football team on at Arena Pantanal
You can catch all the excitement of the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Cuiaba at the brand new stadium - Arena Pantanal. This new stadium is set to be finished in 2014 and will host four matches.
Arena Pantanal will have a capacity of 42,968 and will occupy the space where Governador Gose Fragelli used to sit. The construction has focused heavily on sustainability, so it will be only be a great space to watch world-class football, but it will be earth-friendly as well.

Learn more about the history of the state at Museu Historico de Mato Grosso. The museum is situated in a restored colonial building, and each room represents a different period of time. You can see collections of silver, military paraphernalia and other historical pieces.
