HomeAway Offers New “HomeAway Carefree Rental Guarantee” Options For Travelers
Money-back guarantee offers peace of mind and comprehensive assurances to travelers choosing vacation rentals instead of hotels

— The largest online vacation rental marketplace, HomeAway, Inc., today announced an expansion of its Guarantee to provide blanketed coverage and unparalleled protection to travelers on its U.S. sites including HomeAway.com, VRBO.com and VacationRentals.com.

HomeAway® has changed the name of its rental guarantee to the “HomeAway Carefree Rental Guarantee” and is introducing “HomeAway Carefree Guarantee Gold,” an upgraded service that offers travelers broader protection for a minimal fee.

The new HomeAway Carefree Guarantee Gold program offers:
  • Internet Fraud Protection: up to $10,000 payment protection for an illegitimate listing

  • Misrepresentation Protection: up to $10,000 payment protection if the home is significantly different from the description in the listing

  • Bankruptcy/Foreclosure Protection: up to $10,000 payment protection if the traveler is denied access to the home due to owner bankruptcy, foreclosure or a double booking

  • Deposit Loss Protection: up to $10,000 payment protection in the event the owner wrongfully refuses to refund the deposit of a traveler who meets the terms of the rental agreement

The company is offering the HomeAway Carefree Guarantee Gold at a special introductory rate of $59 per booked rental. Moreover, HomeAway continues to offer its free Carefree Rental Guarantee, now providing payment protection for 50% of a traveler’s vacation rental fees up to $1,000in the event of internet fraud. All travelers who book accommodations through HomeAway.com, VRBO.com or VacationRentals.com will automatically receive the protection of the Carefree Guarantee Basic.

Travel research company PhoCusWright says vacation rental guests are extremely satisfied with their stays in rental properties. In its 2008 Vacation Rental Marketplace: Poised for Change study, PhoCusWright found nine in 10 vacation rental guests said they will rent a vacation home again within three years and would recommend a vacation rental to a family member or a friend.
