San Diego Weather

San Diego weather is world-famous for being "perfect" year-round - not too hot, not too cold. However, temperatures can vary within a short distance as you move from coastal to mountain to desert environments in the San Diego area.

Every month of the year is ideal for enjoying outdoor activities in San Diego. From April to November, guests of vacation rentals in San Diego will find daytime highs in the 70s to low 80s. July is usually the warmest month with an average high of about 82 degrees. The highest temperature on record is 111 degrees, recorded back in 1963. Summertime lows are in the 60s, while in the spring and fall it dips into the 50s at night.

"Winter" weather in San Diego means highs in the 60s and lows in the 40s. December is generally the coolest month. The lowest recorded temperature of 29 degrees occurred more than half a century ago in 1949. Springtime weather in San Diego warms up a little with daytimes in the high 60s.

It almost never rains in Southern California; San Diego's average annual rainfall is only 12 inches. January is usually the wettest month with 2-1/2 inches of rain and there is virtually no rainfall from May to October. So, whenever you visit San Diego, California, you're likely to find blue skies and pleasant temperatures.
