Beaches for Guests of Key West Vacation Rentals

Several Key West beaches offer sunbathing, snorkeling, and swimming. South Beach, located at the end of Duval Street, offers shallow water and a concrete pier. Higg's Beach, at the end of Reynolds Street, is a wide stretch of sand with a long wooden pier, shaded picnic facilities, restrooms, a restaurant, a playground, and water sports equipment rentals.

Another popular Key West, Florida beach is Smathers Beach on South Roosevelt Boulevard, which offers volleyball nets, water sports rentals, bike paths, restrooms, concessions, and picnic areas. Vacationers staying in a Key West rental will find excellent fishing on the White Street Pier at Rest Beach. The beach also features picnic facilities and nearby restrooms.

One of the best Key West beaches is located at Fort Zachary Taylor Historical State Park (305-292-6713), where guests of Key West villa rentals can enjoy fishing, swimming, snorkeling, bicycling, wildlife viewing, and nature trails. Guided tours of the historic fort are offered at Noon and 2:00 p.m. daily.

Facilities at Fort Zachary Taylor Park include kayak rentals, restrooms, picnic tables, food concessions, and showers. The park, located at the end of Southard Street at the Truman Annex, is open from 8:00 a.m. to sundown every day.

At Bahia Honda State Park, located just 37 miles north of Key West, guests of vacation rentals in Key West Florida will find the best sandy beaches and swimming conditions in the area. Facilities include three and a half miles of hard surface paths, a nature trail, kayak rentals, a boat ramp and marina, a dive shop, snack bar, restrooms, and a bath house. Bahia Honda State Park is open daily from 8:00 a.m. until sunset, but park buildings and concessions close at 5:00 p.m.
