Beaches for Guests of Kauai Vacation Rentals

Kauai beaches are some of the most beautiful in Hawaii. Vacationers who rent a Poipu or Koloa vacation rental on Kauai's sunny South Shore can relax on several beautiful beaches in the area and enjoy water sports such as swimming, snorkeling, windsurfing, surfing, and boogie boarding.

The most popular beach for vacationers staying in a South Shore Kauai condo rental is Poipu Beach Park, which features a gently sloping, family-friendly beach with safe swimming. This fabulous, lifeguard-protected Kauai beach also offers a natural wading pool that is perfect for kids and Kauai snorkeling, boogie boarding, and surfing. Facilities include restrooms outdoor showers, barbecue grills, and shaded picnic areas.

Visitors who rent a South Shore Kauai vacation condo will find great sunbathing at scenic Shipwreck Beach (also known as Keoniloa Beach). Located between the Hyatt hotel and the Poipu Bay Golf Course, this long stretch of golden sand features high surf during most of the year that is suitable for expert surfers only

A little farther east are the undeveloped Mahaulepu beaches. The water is usually too rough for swimming, but the views are fabulous and the area between Gillin's Beach and Kawailoa Bay offers great windsurfing. Drive east on Poipu Road past the Poipu Bay Golf Course (the road will change from pavement to dirt). Turn right when the road dead-ends and drive until you see the security shack with posted access hours.

To the west of Poipu Beach, guests of Kauai rentals can enjoy safe swimming at Baby Beach, which is situated in a protected cove. Take Spouting Horn Road to Hoone Road to reach Baby Beach. Some of the best Kauai snorkeling can be found on Lawai Beach, which is a little farther west on Spouting Horn Road.

On the west side of Kauai, visitors will find safe swimming and a small, rock-lined lagoon at crescent-shaped Salt Pond Beach Park. The firm sand at Kekaha Beach, located past the town of Waimea, is ideal for walking and jogging. This is a good spot for surfing and body boarding when the surf is not dangerously high.

More great Kauai beaches can be found on the eastern side of the island. Kapaa vacation rentals are just minutes from Lydgate State Park, which features safe swimming, excellent Kauai snorkeling, picnic areas, and plenty of beachfront for strolling. Lydgate Park's lava-ringed ocean pool is a great swimming spot for children and the park also features a wonderful playground.

Visitors staying in Waipouli and Wailua vacation rentals can enjoy sunning, swimming, and sailing at Kalapaki Beach and exploring the 40-acre freshwater Kauai Lagoons, which serve as a sanctuary for exotic wildlife.

Other East Shore Kauai beaches include Hanama'ulu Beach Park, featuring calm water, safe swimming, restrooms, showers, and picnic facilities. Ninini Beach is a good swimming spot offering great views of Nawiliwili Harbor, while Niumalu Beach Park is popular with sailboarders and offers restrooms, showers, and picnic facilities.

On the North Shore of Kauai, Hideaways Beach (also known as Pali Ke Kua) is a secluded beach reached by climbing down a stairway and path just east of the Princeville Hotel. Hideaways Beach offers great snorkeling when the water is calm.

A Hanalei condo rental makes the perfect home base for enjoying the spectacular beauty of Hanalei Bay, home to several great Kauai beaches. Waikoko Beach offers good snorkeling when the water is calm, and the lifeguard-protected beach at Hanalei Pavilion Beach Park is great for surfing and boogie boarding.

Haena vacation rentals are just minutes from Lumaha'i Beach, one of Hawaii's most gorgeous beaches. Vacationers who stay in a Kauai beach villa will find great snorkeling at Ke'e Beach, an incredibly beautiful beach situated at the very end of the road that traverses Kauai's North Shore.

Guests of Kilauea vacation rentals can hike down a cliff to reach the incredibly beautiful Secret Beach. Larsen's Beach, just east of Kilauea, offers excellent snorkeling and beachcombing.

Vacationers staying in Anini Beach vacation rentals can enjoy safe swimming and outstanding Kauai snorkeling in the calm, shallow water at 'Anini Beach Park. Just east of Princeville, guests of Kauai beach villas will find great swimming at Kalihiwai Beach, which also offers a firm sandy beach, good surfing in the wintertime, and shallow pools and streams for the kids.
